Out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada we bring you The Rising Few, which one could describe as a world/blues music version of a group like Blessid Union of Souls meets Bruce Springsteen. On May 12th, The Rising Few released their EP entitled “Adult Entertainment” via Spotify and I-Tunes.
It is expected to get a diverse, eclectic taste of sounds and melodies when the members are from Haiti, Egypt, France, Syria, Canada, Brazil, and Armenia. The Rising Few are composed of Karim Terouz on vocals/acoustic guitar, Andre Galamba on electric/acoustic guitars, Isaac Gesse on tambourine/trumpets/background vocals, Erik Manshuryan on alto sax/tenor sax, Andrew Sudlow on bass, Harvey Bienaimee on drums, and Phyrass Haddad on percussion. They have created an eclectic world music meets storytelling songwriting style meets adult alternative sound with “Adult Entertainment”.
“Adult Entertainment” starts off with a world music meets Dave Matthews Band style of sound with “Try Try Again(Gonna Need A Helping Hand)”. The acoustic guitars are lush and the percussion is subtle yet poignant in the track while Karim displays a really nice bass/jazz/songwriter style of voice that displays some emotion and poignant lyrics in the storytelling. “Gullible” further expands the world/eclectic sound that The Rising Few possesses. It features a reggae beat in the guitars and rhythm section colliding up with a jazz/fusion/ska section in the trumpet with soulful vocals by Karim. “The Sinking of the I’m Alone” features a Bruce Springsteen meets a whiskey cigarette infested blues voice, and it has a jazz influence during the verses of the song. “Big Boy Games” has a ska/alternative/punk influence. This really showcases the eclectic power that The Rising Few possess.
The aforementioned synopsis are just a few of many reasons why people need to pick up “Adult Entertainment” by The Rising Few on May 26th! It is absolutely an eclectic/world music album that fuses together many genres that make up the unique sound that is The Rising Few. The music is filled with pleasure and danceable moments, and it’s a band that unites multiple genres that would serve just as well at a singer/songwriter showcase, a world music stage, as well as the Vans Warped Tour.
