HDNET MOVIES honors the life and career of accomplished actor and Pulitzer-winning playwright Sam Shepard with special airings of two films from his extensive catalogue of work. First the network will air his performance in the romance western ALL THE PRETTY HORSES starring Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz on Friday, Aug. 4 at 7pE/4pP. Then, on Sept. 3, Shepard joins the ensemble crime thriller SWORDFISH with Halle Barry and John Travolta at 7:15pE/4:15pP. These films will have multiple encore airings throughout August and September.

Renowned for his work on screen, on stage and in the writer’s room, Sam Shepard’s career spanned over half a century, writing and starring in dozens of films and plays, highlighted by the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979 for his play “Buried Child,” and an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor in the 1983 film “The Right Stuff.” Shepard passed away Sunday at the age of 73.
