The old tried and true saying goes is that “all good things must come to an end”.  It was recently announced that after 2018, Kevin Lyman was going to discontinue the Warped Tour.  My heart sank into my stomach after I read the news on Alternative Press.  The thing is, the Vans Warped Tour was the festival of all festivals to me.  It allowed fans to check out many different genres of music, heck pop singers such as Katy Perry and hip-hop artists such as 3OH!3 were embraced at the Warped Tour.  The Vans Warped Tour had a sense of unity there where it didn’t matter what style of music, what background you were, or even what political or religious belief you had, you were accepted simply for who you are.  I am pretty sure that was what Kevin’s vision was.  I am going to make this a several part series where I simply look back on the summer that was the Vans Warped Tour.

Madness To Creation is eternally grateful for the opportunity to get to cover the Vans Warped Tour as we got to have amazing conversations with Courage My Love, Fire From The Gods, The Acacia Strain, Candiria, Valient Thorr, and so many others.

Hatebreed took the stage at Warped Tour.  I remembered Hatebreed receiving some flak due to some fake news that CNN was reporting, claiming that Hatebreed was a “white supremacist” band.  If I’m Hatebreed, I’m suing CNN for that because that couldn’t be further from the truth, especially when Hatebreed’s songs are usually about overcoming obstacles and empowering the individual along with empowering the human race as a whole.  Jamey Jasta showcased why Hatebreed is considered to be an absolute mainstay in the industry with their hard hitting performance, commanding the crowd like a demagogue over their people, and slaying the masses with their tight musicianship and chest-gripping lyrics.

Some of the setlist included:

  1.  Empty Promises
  2.  Last Breath
  3.  Destroy Everything
  4.  Tear It Down
  5.  Smash Your Enemies
  6.  Under The Knife
  7.  Perseverance
  8.  I Will Be Heard
