Sometimes the tough part of doing this is you find an artist that you immediately shake your head to, shake it so much that you about develop a stroke or an aneurysm from it, and I bring to you Cambridge, Massachusetts’ own Sammy Adams.

Adams was discovered recording songs on his Macbook in his dorm room on his Macbook at Hobart College.  He also balled at soccer.   Adams immediately gained notoriety with his remix song of “I Hate College”, which was his take on Asher Roth’s hit “I Love College”.  The video has garnered over 15 million hits on YouTube.  He also did remixes of “Rollin'” and “Poker Face”.  In 2010, Adams released his debut EP entitled “Boston’s Boy”, which went to No. 1 on iTunes and No. 73 on the Billboard 200 charts.  At a concert at Kansas State University, a noise ordinance was enforced on Sammy Adams’ concert, he yelled “fuck the police” and was subsequently arrested for violating the noise ordinance.

In 2011, Adams would sign with RCA Records of Sony.  He released the songs “Blow Up” and “Summertime” as promotional singles and it led to him performing on “The Late Show with Conan O’Brien, a feature in Teen Vogue Magazine as one of the five new artists to watch, and television placement for the 2012 Summer Olympics.  He would release his big hit “All Night Longer”, which has almost six million hits on YouTube and would tour with T. Mills to promote “All Night Longer”.

Adams would also tap Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic to release “L.A. Story”, which featured Mike Posner.  “Homecoming” was released as a digital EP.  Sammy Adams would leave RCA Records and become an independent hip-hop artist.

Madness To Creation’s Take:  If you’re in a fraternity or sorority in college, you might appreciate Sammy Adams’ music, otherwise he was a flash in the pan.  There’s only so many songs about taking shots and partying that I can take.  Honestly, I tried to listen to several of his songs, I couldn’t even make it to the second verse on any of them.  I’m going to have to pass on him, songs about partying and shots, and the fraternity/sorority lifestyle are clearly not for me.
