Out of a small town located along the coast line of the United Kingdom is an artist who has taught students in Indonesia and currently resides in Seoul, South Korea, and that artist is Simon Adams!

For his EP released in 2014, Simon Adams tapped producer Erik Nilsson, who has produced the likes of Kanye West, Eminem, and Leona Lewis for the recording.  He combines the sensibilities of classic songwriting styles of older British pop artists such as Paul McCartney with a modern alternative singer-songwriter vibe of someone like David Gray or Coldplay.

The EP, which is entitled “Point And Shoot” showcases an indie-pop vibe with a singer-songwriter vibe that showcases emotion in the ballads and kind of the pop sensibilities that are a necessity for this particular genre.  In the EP, the melodies are lush and the arrangements are intricately woven.

Simon Adams hit the peak of his career in 2015, when he released the music video for Nic & Mar for Line Indonesia for the song “Far Away”.  The song became very well known in the soundtrack mobile drama genre and the video proclaims over 700,000 hits on YouTube.  Simon Adams, along with teaching, also writes jingles, as he did for an Urban station and for “Happy Hawaii”.  Check out “Far Away” below!

Madness To Creation’s take:  Simon Adams needs to do more in his music to stand out.  Honestly, I’ve heard a 1,000 artists that are similar to the music of Simon Adams.  While, I can appreciate the songwriting techniques and the stories that Simon Adams tells in his music, there is nothing necessarily original in the music.  It’s the kind of music that you play in the background while you are cleaning your house or that you would hear at a grocery store in the background.  I rate it a 4.5 out of 10 stars.
