Tonight, Katie Daryl will be hosting Top Ten Revealed: Guitar Intros” via AXS TV! It will include esteemed personalities Steven Adler of Guns ‘N’ Roses fame, Lita Ford, Matt Pinfield, and Eddie Trunk of “Trunkfest”.
First of all, I like the presentation of the setup of this show! It brings me back to the glory days of VH1 where they would have countdowns, but this is really music focused oriented, which is what I love about AXS TV, and Katie Daryl looks stunning in that orange dress by the way! Just as a warning, it is for songs from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s only. I don’t want people to be commenting, what about Nirvana, what about Metallica, etc.
When I hear a great classic rock song, it has to grab me from the first note that is played and I feel that this countdown does it justice! Matt Pinfield and his superlatives always does an impeccable job of explaining the songs and what they meant to them, and the songs such as “Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love” by Van Halen really gives the listener an educational lesson. I would’ve never guessed that the song was meant to poke fun at the punk rock movement of the 1970’s. Other educational lessons include them describing the song “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne, which is talking about the Cold War. Matt Pinfield talk about the importance of Randy Rhoads igniting Ozzy Osbourne’s solo career. Another fact was when Ronnie Van Zandt told them to “turn it up” in “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, he actually wanted to hear the melody better, not just to make it cool.
As a review, I love the countdown, as it will appeal to classic rock enthusiasts the world over. It brings back those nostalgic feelings when that guitar intro comes on, that you roll down the windows, crank up the radio, and just absolutely rock out! Thank you to AXS TV for bringing back those feelings when music was music and when a hit was because bands could pick up an instrument and craft a well-thought out rock song. It makes us long for the glory days of music again!
