Those that know me know that I love a good banger of a night of music, especially music that is the golden age for the millenial/Generation X generation. Where the hair was big, the guitars were loud, the spandex was tight, and the music was even louder. It was the music that people listened to in order to unwind after a tough week at work, problems with relationships, and that need to go on an escapade and leave their troubles and cares behind. Recently, Slaughter with special guests Lynch Mob rocked the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Lynch Mob was the direct support act to take the stage.
It was great to see Oni Logan back with legendary guitarist George Lynch, Sean McNabb, and Jimmy D’Anda, who all make up Lynch Mob. I will tell you this, seeing Logan’s charismatic stage presence along with the legendary bluesy guitar playing of George Lynch made Lynch Mob a great act to completely warm up the audience of roughly 1,000 people for Slaughter. Lynch Mob played a few cuts off of their latest record entitled “The Brotherhood” and fans were especially happy with the cuts “She’s So Evil”, “No Bed Of Roses”, and their classic “Wicked Sensation”. The rhythm section was one of the more driving rhythm sections coupled with Logan’s onstage antics and his interaction with the crowd and Lynch slaying on the guitar like he is too cool for school. Fans definitely wanted to see Lynch Mob come back someday!

The legendary classic metal band Slaughter was the headliner that the fans were anxious to see. The Iowa crowd was amped up after a blistering set by Lynch Mob and the lights dimmed, the crowd roared in anticipation, and the song “Highway To Hell” by AC/DC came blaring into the ears and people started singing along to the AC/DC classic, then Slaughter stormed onto the stage.
Slaughter blistered into their hour plus long set with songs “The Wild Life”, “Burnin’ Bridges”, and “Take Me Away”. The guitars were screaming, the band was on point as they looked like a unified front and were having a really good time, and Mark Slaughter’s voice was hitting on multiple octaves. It was a great way to start off into the night! Slaughter really showed their appreciation for the Iowa crowd that was there to dance and have a good time, which is what live rock shows are all about! Slaughter closed the night with their staple songs “Fly To The Angels” and “Up All Night” sending the Iowa crowd home happy!
