It was an awesome, yet chilly winter night in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  We were ready for an awesome night of music as Movements headlined the “Feel Something” tour with special guests Can’t Swim, Gleemer, and Super Whatevr.

The Garage, which is a non-profit venue, is a fantastic hidden gem type of venue located in Burnsville, Minnesota.  I really liked how it was organized with a room that was separate from the floor where the bands could sell their music and merchandise, and ample area for seats for people to socialize, and people to order their food and drinks.  I must mention that this venue is a non-alcohol facility as the design of the facility was to give teenagers and college-aged students a safe and fun outlet.  California’s own Super Whatevr was the first band to take the night.

Super Whatevr ignited the crowd with their music, they had about a 25 minute set and they primarily played cuts off of the “Never Nothing” release.  The music was on point, the rhythm section was grooving, and their songs seemed to have resonated with the audience of roughly 200 people at The Garage.  Frontman Skyler McKee certainly had a cool vibe about him in between the songs as he didn’t waste much time, yet was able to interject a little bit of humor.  Check out the remaining tour dates with Movements at the end of this article.  Find Super Whatevr on Instagram here!

Gleemer was the next band to take the stage.  Out of Colorado, Gleemer certainly brought an atmospheric type of alternative rock sound to the band.  While I wasn’t familiar with their music, I could immediately tell that they were creative with their song structures and that they possessed a pretty cool vibe about them.  They kind of reminded me of a chill version of the Deftones with a little bit of a Filter vibe.  Personally, I would’ve liked to have heard the vocals more, I wasn’t sure if it was a sound issue or if it was the natural vibe of the band.  Overall, the crowd seemed to be quite attentive and enjoyed Gleemer’s set and that’s what counts at the end of the day.  Their performance left me with wanting to hear more from them so I can get a better grasp on their music.  Check out the remaining tour dates with Movements at the end of this article.  Find Gleemer on Facebook here!

Can’t Swim was the next band to take the stage.  I caught a little bit of their set, this was when I wasn’t feeling good.  I sometimes get migraines and it hinders me from being able to enjoy the music.  I sat in a room away from the stage where I could still clearly hear the band.  I could immediately tell that Can’t Swim had their fans that were there to see them live!  Their vocals were a great mix of singing and screaming, as the frontman effectively utilized his vocals to portray the story that he was telling and their arrangements were tighter than some of the skinny jeans that I saw in the crowd at The Garage!  I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from Can’t Swim.

Movements were the final band to take the stage.  The crowd went absolutely ballistic for Movements as they ripped into their one hour set, as I can tell the vocalist sang with a vengeance after he missed out on performing the show before in Denver due to an allergic reaction to medication.  The beautiful thing about this set was how unified the audience at The Garage was as there were copious amounts of stagediving and Movements didn’t seem to mind people being on the stage.  The biggest thing I noticed was how the fans of Movements sang at the top of their lungs with every word especially with the songs “Under The Gun”, “Deadly Dull”, and the set closer “Third Degree”.  The audience definitely were sought out to “Feel Something” during Movements’ set and the feels ran the gamut of emotions throughout their set.  This is why Movements are creating a movement, because of their songs and because their blistering live set!
