Madness To Creation:  I can honestly say that The Free Life is the record of the year so far!  Tell us about the writing process and the driving force behind creating this record!

Chris:  Thank you! Andy and myself spent 2 years working on this album. The general formula is that Andy writes the music and I write the vocal melodies and words. We then get together and arrange it, then record it with band. The driving force was the ambition to make a body of work where each song is as good as it can be, and speaks to us in some way. We hope that passion translates to the listener.

Madness To Creation:  You have tapped Sebastien from Death From Above for “Cheap Magic”, take us into that song and the music video.

Chris:  We’re so absolutely thrilled to have Sebastien be a part of our album! Many thanks to him for the years of inspiration and generally being a great dude. It seemed like a natural fit when we wrote the song. His ability and vocal tone was perfect. And the video was made by Andy and myself with some help from Seb and the band. It’s our first directorial effort.

Madness To Creation:  You also tapped Mike Kerr from Royal Blood for “Domino”, take us into that song, and what was it like working with Mike from Royal Blood.

Chris:  Again, what a great guy! We’ve been friends with Mike and Ben for a few years now and when Mike asked to be a part of the album, we of course said yes. Due to both our busy schedules, the only time we could record his vocals was at The Eden Project in Cornwall (look it up) last summer where we played a show together. 20 minutes in a backstage room with a mic and a laptop. His crooner-y voice sets the song off.

Madness To Creation:  Fondest memory working in the studio this time around.

Chris:  Turning my living room into a recording studio and re-amping the guitars.

Madness To Creation:  Memory in the studio that pissed you off!

Chris:  Turning my living room into a recording studio and re-amping the guitars.

Madness To Creation:  Give us your top three Royal Blood tracks.

Chris:  How Did We Get So Dark, Out Of The Black, Hole In Your Heart.

Madness To Creation:   How has the tour with Puppy and Big Spring been going so far? Craziest memory while on tour?

Chris:  Amazing! Both Puppy and Big Spring are awesome bands and it’s an absolute pleasure to have them with us on this tour. Craziest memory was the London show at The Scala, a few nights ago. Seeing so many people come to see us blew us away. It’s something that will stay with us forever.

Madness To Creation:  The absolute moment that you were going to be doing this life was when(complete that sentence)

Chris:  I saw White Zombie in 1996 in the Brixton Academy.

Madness To Creation:  Turbowolf is providing direct support for Royal Blood, why should we come out early to see you guys?  What’s the number one thing you’re looking forward to about the tour?

Chris:  We’re so excited to play to you all out there! Come and see us be excited! That’s what we’re looking forward to most, playing for a new audience and feeling the love.

Madness To Creation:  Anything else you want to add about The Free Life, the floor is yours!

Chris:  We made the best album we could. And we hope you enjoy it!
