Editor’s Note:  It was a great time chatting with one of my favorite vocalists in Beau Bokan of blessthefall.  What I’ve always appreciated about Beau is his brutal honesty and that he promotes living a healthy lifestyle.  We weren’t sure what was going to happen with blessthefall, then their signing with Rise Records happened and they released a total annihilation of an album in “Hard Feelings”, which sounds like they’ve been through some things and saw some things that they weren’t supposed to see in this industry(figuratively) and decided to write about it!  After a successful tour providing support for the likes of Of Mice & Men, Cane Hill, and Fire From The Gods, blessthefall is set to provide support for the megatour featuring Asking Alexandria and Black Veil Brides.  Fans can find blessthefall at the following locations:

Madness To Creation:  blessthefall signed with Rise Records, which showcased that fresh start for the band, what was a recent time in your life where you felt like you needed a fresh start?

Beau:  Hmm, I think when I started talking to this hockey stick company called TRUE. I used to use a Warrior stick but these guys wanted send me twig and I fell in love with it. So,that’s considered a fresh start I think? *laughs*

Madness To Creation:  I love the record “Hard Feelings”, take us into the writing process of the album and what were the driving points behind some of the songs?

Beau:  Thank you so much. Honestly we went into this album with the mentality of just simply writing GREAT songs. We didn’t want to worry about genre or about past albums. We just sort of let our hearts take control with the writing. We felt like we went through a ton of shit on our last album cycle. We sort of got hosed by our label on our last record. So there’s that sentiment of feeling unappreciated and left for dead so to speak. Also, Jared and Elliott went through really bad break ups during that time. So kind of felt at our lowest and we needed to get that all down on paper.

Madness To Creation:  Congrats on over 500,000 hits on the music video “Melodramatic”, take us into that song and the video.

Beau:  Favorite thing about making music videos is just the creative process. It’s so fun to come up with treatments and just watching the song come alive so to speak. The shitty part is staying within the budget. Unfortunately I have some pretty expensive ideas.

Madness To Creation:  What’s the message behind the song?

Beau:  This was a song that we definitely want to play live because it’s no-frills. You don’t have to think too deep into the lyrics, you can just party to it. The lyrics are supposed to be sort of self motivating. I wanted to be pissed off, I wanted to take all the shit talking I had heard over the years and have it just fuel me and the band.

Madness To Creation:  You guys just finished a tour with Of Mice & Men, Cane Hill, and Fire From The Gods, what was the best thing about that tour and a humbling moment of the tour?

Beau:  The best part of the tour was just being with such great dudes everyday. We’ve toured with OM&M a few times, we actually took them on their first run back in the day! So it was nice just being with buds everyday. I don’t know if there were any embarrassing moments.

Madness To Creation:  You guys are touring with Asking Alexandria and Black Veil Brides.  What can fans expect from the tour?

Beau:  Oh man it’s gonna  be a blast. Those bands have some pretty hardcore fans so we’re just going to party like we always do and try to convert some new fans on over to our side.

Madness To Creation:  You all are playing Europe this summer, what are you looking forward most about playing in Europe?

Beau:  All the goddamn bread. Europe does bread really well.

Madness To Creation:  I give you $100 and you can eat or drink whatever you want, what are you having?

Beau:  Honestly, I’d put that $100 directly on my Starbucks card.

Madness To Creation:  What else would you like to add in regards to “Hard Feelings” and where can people find blessthefall?

Beau:  I just want to give the fans a massive shoutout, Also want to welcome any fans on over to the dark side. Please stay a while. My Twitter is @BeauKnows my Instagram is @BeauBokan the band is just Blessthefall across all socials! Come stalk us.
