Out of Utah comes an alternative band that could be making waves, and that band is Mojave Nomads.  As of April 27th, they have released their EP entitled “Phases” via Standby Records.

As of late, Mojave Nomads have made waves winning various contests and have shared the stage with the likes of OK Go!, STRFKR, The Growlers, and Highly Suspect.  This band sounds like a mad science experiment involving 80’s New Wave, meets OK Go!, with a touch of pop sensibilities of Lorde.

This quirky album starts off with the track entitled “G I R L”.  In this track, they have snappy guitars, a punk feel to their pop madness, and where the arrangements make you move.  What should be discusses is the guitar work.  The guitar work has a funk meets new wave with a touch of disco feel, and the guitar work in “G I R L” sounds fun, quirky, yet full of a tongue-in-cheek type of attitude.

In their single “Creature Double Feature”, it’s a great midtempo number, with wonderful ambiance that sounds atmospheric that allows the listener to add another layer to Mojave Nomads.  The guitar solo in the instrumental break sounds lush, and the bridge is a great interlude into the chorus.

Mojave Nomads could receive the torch that Of Monsters And Men and OK Go! are passing with their snappy hooks, feverish melodies, and quirky arrangements that are really infectious and catchy.  Madness To Creation rates “Phases” by Mojave Nomads a 8 out of 10 stars.  Here is the track listing below.
