On May 10th, Orlando, Florida’s own Meka Nism released their EP in DIY fashion entitled “The War Inside”. With this EP release, Meka Nism is poised to take that next step towards recognition in the world of female-fronted power metal.
Meka Nism have already made some significant accomplishments for being an independent band. They have shared the stage with the likes of Trapt, Otep, Avatar, along with earning distinction as the #1 Metal Band in the vibrant Orlando music scene in 2016. They combine energy, enthusiasm, and insane metal with Meka on vocals, Bobby Keller on lead guitars, Jarret Robinson on bass, Chris Lane on drums, and Jay Adkisson on keyboards.
When people think of a concept of having a war inside, they think of torment, struggle, and despair that they might feel inside them. Meka Nism encapsulates those emotions in the title track to kick off the EP. The guitars roar along with Meka sounding angelic in one breath and demonic in the next breath. Meka is really able to transition her voice effortlessly that would make fans of groups like Arch Enemy, In This Moment, and Jinjer proud. In “Arrows Of Alchemy”, guitarist Bobby Keller is able to tell the story with the guitar by building that anticipatory setting during the verses and able to make the chorus sound enormous with his guitar playing. Keller makes the guitar talk and pushes the story along in the music.
Meka Nism bodes themselves to be major players in the metal game with their crushing sound, their moments of sounding equally brutal and equally beautiful in the same token, and tell stories that will make fans of European/power metal quite happy. This EP gets an 8 out of 10 rating from Madness To Creation just for the pure talent and prowess that they possess. Check out the track listing below.
