Out of Pennsylania comes a band that mixes pop-punk with a whole lot of dance sensibilities that are bound to engage the senses. That band is Minshara. They recently released their EP entitled “Overnights”, and it is due to be an “overnight” sensation.
Minshara is composed of Aaron Miller, Liam Shatzer, Evan Kirkley, and Tom Hand. While being signed to Polar Phat Records, Minshara’s eclectic style of music has gotten them to share the stage with the likes of Hollywood Undead, Flyleaf, Chon, The Contortionist, and is currently on tour with SayWeCanFly. Their mission when they recruited Taylor Larson(Asking Alexandria, Periphery, From First To Last) was to create catchy hooks, with a bit of punk attitude from a relationship standpoint, and incorporate that throwback sound with three part harmonies ala Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. Needless to say, Minshara hit their mark.
“Overnights” starts off with a fun little ditty entitled “Wander”. The listener will immediately notice the crooning and Motown-style vocals and the laidback, yet American Bandstand throwback type of vibe in the chorus. The harmonies as Minshara proclaims these feelings of love and hope are second to none. The vocals only get stronger as there is this wonderful falsetto voice that hits multiple octaves, which leaves me quite impressed. “Wander” is that beautiful storm of the sass of pop/punk with quite infectious dance vibes to it.
The second track entitled “Winter Is Coming” has an Imagine Dragons type of vibe in the intro where it sounds atmospheric yet profound in the same breath. Minshara showcases their diversity by sounding retro in the chorus while throwing some 1990’s pop/rock ala The New Radicals in the chorus. The guitars have a funk vibe to it, and the keyboards offer that extremely laidback vibe that would be a beautiful soundtrack to that feeling of school being let out for the summer.
With “Overnights”, Minshara has that laidback vibe that could be the soundtrack to your summer! This EP is incredibly addictive as Madness To Creation rates it 9 out of 10 stars. Check out the track listing below.
