Editor’s Note: The single “San Francisco Moto” by Baltimore’s THRILLKILLER certainly left an impression on me. Essentially, the song was inspired by being at church and feeling uninspired. I definitely appreciated the mix of metal with new wave that THRILLKILLER offers. This band will be signed someday, however, you need to like their socials that way you can be all hipster and say that you liked them before they were signed to a major label. Madness To Creation: Describe your album in a movie title.
Rob: These are awesome questions, just wanted to start with that. This one is a bit tricky though since it was marketed to be an companion piece to our small 80s movie. Maybe something aesthetic like “THRILLKILLER II: TAKING BACK THE STREETS” would be pretty rad.

Rob: HARD QUESTION! Scarface, Escape from New York, The Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Biollante, Rambo: First Blood Part II.

Rob: Mega Man 6, Street Fighter II, F-Zero, Final Fight, Final Fantasy VII.

Rob: Final Fight, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, mostly fighters but there’s a lot of other classics. We have a Street Fighter nod in our music video, a Final Fight one too!
Madness To Creation: Most annoying habit each band member has!
Rob: That’s a hard one, if something goes wrong, the bandmates gotta play me in SFII and debts are usually settled that way.
Madness To Creation: Most endearing thing about each band member!
Rob: The fact that disputes can be settled in a fighting game. Joking aside, the dudes work hard, I have a hell of a team to work with.
Madness To Creation: If I’m the King of 1984, what would the thought police think? George Orwell anyone?
Rob: I’m glad you noticed the intent of the song! I wanted to have a sinister Orwellian message hidden under a glossy coat of 80s aesthetic. If you want to convince a world to overlook your iron grip tightening around them, what better way than to serve it up through placating the egos of your population? Give them a sandboxes to rule over and be drunk with their own sense of self. No one wants to be the King of 1984, or they shouldn’t.
Madness To Creation: The message behind “San Francisco Moto”
Rob: “San Francisco Moto” was created when I was in church with my then girlfriend, I did my best to take part, even though I’m not religious myself. Eventually my mind started wandering and the song started to materialize in my head. Unlike some of our other songs which have a hidden, or deeper meaning in the lyrics, this song was a celebration of what I loved in 70s and 80s funk mixed with the punch of rock/metal. There’s not really any sort of message to the song, it’s more the right kind of window dressing to accompany the vibe.
