It is with a heavy heart that Jim The Anvil Neidhart has passed away at the age of 63. He was one of the greatest “powermen” in a tag team that I’ve ever seen. He brought the brute force while his tag team partner Bret “The Hitman” Hart brought the charisma and the technical wrestling.
This was during a time where tag teams and tag team divisions meant something. The battle for the WWF Tag Team Championships was so critical during the golden age of professional wrestling. I remember it being like actual rankings. I wanted to list some of my favorite moments of Jim The Anvil Neidhart.
- The Hart Foundation winning the WWF Tag Team Championship at Summerslam 1990. They beat freaking Demolition in one incredible match. I remember Roddy Piper on commentary going so crazy that he literally lost his voice.
- The “Hart Attack” finisher. It was a simple move. Jim would lift his opponent while Bret would run the ropes and devastate his opponent with a running clothesline. Tag teams The Revival and The Hart Dynasty(Harry Smith and Tyson Kidd) would pay homage to their mentors.
- The Hart Foundation beating The Bolsheviks in like 8 seconds at Wrestlemania 6. That established them as the top babyface tag team during that time.
- Anytime Jim would stroke his amazing beard/goatee combo that he had going on, couple that with his demonic laughter and you couldn’t help but like him.
Our heart goes out to his daughter Natalya, his family, and to his friends. Let us know your favorite moment involving Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart or The Hart Foundation!
