This could be one of the best kept secrets in California. His name is Tim Carr and he has worked alongside with the likes of Julian Casablancas, HAIM, Nick Cave, and Lucinda Williams. He takes his incorporation of battling anxiety, along with minimalistic 60’s pop/easy listening approaches, and going into the depths of his soul to create the single “Long Enough Along For The Ride”.
Tim Carr has quietly seen mainstream success, having performed on “Late Show with David Letterman” while in the band The Americans, being featured in the documentary “American Epic”, and featured on the “Watershed” soundtrack, which featured Robert Redford. Tim Carr has released his highly anticipated EP entitled “Swing & Turn” and has released “Long Enough Along For The Ride” as a single via Soundcloud and Spotify.
The single sounds like someone coming down during an after-hours party, however the arrangments sound so peaceful and lush, while Tim Carr balances out those laidback arrangements with that feeling of melancholy and that anxious feeling where someone is on the fence in regards to a major decision. The lyrics are poignant, the arrangements sound peaceful yet depressing, and there is that incorporation of throwback 1960’s pop/AM radio that will certainly appeal to the masses. With melodies full of grace, and the instrumentation ever so poignant and fragile, this song was quite easy for me to get into, simply because this is what art is supposed to be in music. “Long Enough Along For The Ride” makes me anxious to hear more from Tim Carr’s EP, and for this reason, I rate this single a solid 8.5/10 stars.
