Just when you think you’ve heard the premiere band that sounds bombastic as a live act, here comes Queens’ own Sylar roaring with their October 5th release entitled “Seasons”, which is available via Hopeless Records.
Sylar provides that moxie for the downtrodden, that muscle for the weak, and that empowerment for those that feel like victims with their authentic lyrics, straightforward arrangements, and heartfelt emotions in their vocals. Sylar tapped Erik Ron(Godsmack, Issues, Blessthefall) to produce this monster of a record. Sylar has also wowed crowds on their runs with Attila, Insane Clown Posse, Ice Nine Kills, and the Vans Warped Tour with their rap rock swagger coupled with the take no prisoners vibe that New York City offers.
The record has swagger, yet it doesn’t seem arrogant in songs such as as the title track and “All Or Nothing”. In these tracks, it has the bounce that you would expect to hear from a band like P.O.D. or Islander, while providing that ambiance of the Deftones, while showcasing that muscle in the guitars and rhythm section. The album also boasts of highly emotive songs of perseverance and empowerment as showcased in the songs “Wait For You” and “Open Wounds”. I absolutely love the trade off in the melodic vocals and the rapcore possessed by Jayden Panesso and Miguel Cardona, who also provides tasty guitar riffs throughout the album.
Looking back, I remember Sylar leaving a lasting impression on me after stumbling upon their set at the Vans Warped Tour. It was mere days after Chester Bennington of Linkin Park passed away and they paid homage to Linkin Park. There was something about their confidence and boldness that they had on that stage that I needed to hear more from Sylar, hence why we’re reviewing “Seasons”.
If you want to be empowered, uplifted, or if you just want to bounce, pick up “Seasons” by Sylar. Sylar is ready to take the world by storm with this powerful release via Hopeless Records. Madness To Creation rates this album a solid 9 out of 10 stars. Check out the track listing below.
