American ska band Reel Big Fish headlined the show at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey on Friday, November 23rd, 2018.  Band members consist of Aaron Barrett (Vocals, Guitar), Billy Kottage (Trombone), Johnny Christmas (Trumpet), Edward Larsen (Drums), Derek Gibbs (Bass, Backing Vocals), and Matt Appleton (Saxophone, Vocal Harmonies). The “Skanksgiving 2018” show featured the Backyard Superheroes, We Are the Union, Psychotic Submarines, Ballyhoo, and a surprise guest The Pietasters. Reel Big Fish formed in 1991 and has released 9 studio albums ever since.  The band is known for one of their biggest hits “Sell Out” which is still a fan favorite today. They have devoted fans which seem to have a good time at live shows and are comfortable moshing through the crowd.

At the show, they kept the crowd “skanking” and moving with their revolutionary brand of ska music.  They combined originals with cover songs and gave fans a sneak peek with several cuts from their upcoming album “Life Sucks….Let’s Dance”.  The people of Sayreville, New Jersey definitely saw why Reel Big Fish is considered to be the supreme band in ska music because as Johnny Christmas has stated in an interview with us that they’re “all about putting smiles on people’s faces”, and after their performance, I guarantee you that everyone left with a smile on their face.
