By way of New Zealand and Los Angeles, California comes an artist that will make Janis Joplin smile down from heaven, and that artist is Kelsy Karter.  After working with Cage The Elephant and Alex Da Kid, Kelsy Karter recently released her music video for “God Knows I’ve Tried”.  The video already has over 64,000 hits on YouTube.

In her music, Kelsy Karter cites Queen, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones as major influences.  I’m sure she has borrowed pages from Jocelyn & Chris Arndt, Joss Stone, and a touch of Mariah Carey in her singing style as well.  The guitar boasts of a twangy arrangement that makes it sound like a throwback to the glory days of Motown mixed with blues, whereas Karly Karter has her soul stripped bare to reveal every emotion in this song.

The video portrays a bit of an old school home movie theme to it.  It shows a younger Kelsy Karter with her friend on a railroad track, and then as soon as Kelsy croons, “She’s a little rebel, that’s what they say/I’ve been chasing trouble since back in the day”, I knew that I was in for something special the way she sang and the way she evoked emotions into the song.  I could immediately feel the song building, and as the song kicks into the third verse.  Kelsy just explodes with the prowess and energy that she possesses in the song.

As the saying goes, “y’all ain’t ready”, I definitely wasn’t prepared for the amazingness that Kelsy Karter has bestowed upon us in this piece of art.  The crooning, the way the video shows her childhood, portraying her teenage years, and her with tears in her eyes in the backseat of a car, the video told the perfect story to “God Knows I’ve Tried” by Kelsy Karter.  I need to hear more from this artist, Madness To Creation gives her 10 out of 10 stars.

On that note, I am anxiously anticipating Karly Karter’s music video for “Catch Me If You Can” to come out.  She is on my list of artists to look out for in 2019.  Follow her on her social media pages below to keep up to date.  You don’t want to miss out on her!
