There is something that is needed as the world seems to be heading off this downward spiral, and that is Reel Big Fish to sing about impending doom with such slap-happy two tones with their latest record entitled “Life Sucks…Let’s Dance”.
At the Warped Tour this past summer, I remember trumpet player Johnny Christmas revealing this bit of information to us, and I remember being full of glee after hearing the news because what we need is a record from Reel Big Fish to get into the skankpit to.
Life sucks when you’re struggling to pay the bills and you want to save your money. Reel Big Fish reminds us in a tongue-in-cheek way to build up your savings account in “You Can’t Have All Of Me”. Might as well dance while you’re struggling to make ends meet or while you’re on the unemployment line. Remember, when life sucks, don’t mope, just say screw it and dance all of your cares away.
Did you fall in love with that special someone while checking out the produce at the grocery store? Reel Big Fish feels your pain in “In Love Again”. This happens while you’re just minding your own business and getting bewitched with love all over again. Those awkward moments after a night of drinking and partying and regretting it the next day? Dance about it anyway in “Tongue Tied and Tipsy”.
It is so fun to revisit nostalgia. You shouldn’t expect Reel Big Fish to try new arrangements or to get introspective in their music. Reel Big Fish gives you exactly what you should expect from a record of theirs and that is an album that is chocked full of humor, fun, and the soundtrack to one massive skankpit with this 8 out of 10 star effort!
