This was a special night for those that loved the emo/post-hardcore phase of music in the 2000’s. A band that has stood the test of time through constantly evolving in their music is Silverstein. On January 12th, they performed with special guests Hawthorne Heights in front of a packed house at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey to promote the 15th Anniversary of their trademark album “When Broken Is Easily Fixed”.
Honestly, I have never listened to this band before, so I didn’t know what to expect. The stage had colorful lights in the background and their drums sounded heavy like thunder. With the lights, fog machine, and their energetic performance, this got the crowd involved in more moshing and more crowdsurfing than I can remember at a show.
Their first two songs were “Smashed Into Pieces” and “Red Light Pledge”. The crowd was loud and was whipped into a frenzy. The crowd was a unified front especially during the songs “Smile In Your Sleep” and “Discovering The Waterfront”.
Silverstein’s setlist was great. The first ten songs were from the “When Broken Is Easily Fixed” album, then they did another ten songs of hits that culminated throughout their storied career from the 2000’s to today. Then, they closed out the set with two acoustic numbers in “Aquamarine” and everyone’s favorite “My Heroine”.
Here is the setlist:
- Smashed Into Pieces
- Red Light Pledge
- Giving Up
- November
- Last Days Of Summer
- Bleeds No More
- Hear Me Out
- The Weak and the Wounded
- Wish I Could Forget You

- The Afterglow
- Smile In Your Sleep
- Call It Karma
