I argue that this was the album that catapulted Kevon Edmonds career, as him and his brother Melvin along with his song Jason would join in.  Keith Mitchell was in the group before Jason Edmonds joined the R&B group. This self-titled album by After 7 was released on August 22nd, 1989 and would go platinum for selling over one million copies on November 27th, 1990.  This album was jam packed full of fun.

This album is just chocked full of tasty jams that makes the club scene hopping, while they are on point with their singing.  The thing is, this self-titled release by After 7 had songs that were full of class and would make the ladies swoon over their vocals.  They had emotion in their lyrics and in their voices, which seems to be devoid in today’s pop music.  This album included two top 10 singles in the songs “Ready Or Not” and “Can’t Stop”.  “Love’s Been So Nice” is definitely the standout track as I love the keyboard and synth hooks in the track.

This album is for fans of late 80’s r&b as a healthy alternative to the likes of Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, or New Edition.  It is fun and full of pizzazz.  I am a sucker for this kind of music, Madness To Creation gives this a 9 out of 10 star rating.  Here is the track listing.

  1.  Don’t Cha Think
  2.  Heat of the Moment
  3.  Can’t Stop
  4.  My Only Woman
  5.  Love’s Been So Nice
  6.  One Night
  7.  Ready or Not
  8.  Sayonara
