Editor’s Note: SHE MADE ME DO IT is a fledgling electronic rock duo out of London, United Kingdom that is bound to turn some heads with their infectious beats and solid arrangements. They have recently released their promo video for their song “Bones”, which is a song about “intense-sexual attraction that turns stalkerish”. They are also currently promoting their EP entitled “Drenched”. She Made Me Do It sat down with Madness To Creation on the things they hate, “Bones”, and people that creep them out! Madness To Creation: So what exactly did she make you do?
Shaheena: Euterpe inspired us to write words and music.
Madness To Creation: Describe this band using a movie title.
Shaheena: A Streetcar Named Desire
Will: The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Madness To Creation: Biggest influence in the history of ever for you all is?
Will: Depeche Mode, blacker than black coffee and Cookies and Scream (vegan baker on Holloway Road, North London).
Madness To Creation: Take us into the London music scene, best and worst thing about it.
Will: It’s been dying off a bit in central London but definitely sprouting up again on the outskirts. There’s still plenty of places to play as London is so sprawling. I hear of new venues all the time.
Madness To Creation: Stereotypes us Americans give you all that you’re really freaking tired of.
Will: That we’re polite and reserved. They obviously haven’t been waiting at too many London bus stops in rush hour.
Madness To Creation: Take us into “Bones”. What was the best part about writing that song?
Shaheena: It all fell into place effortlessly.
Madness To Creation: According to the press release, it’s about delusion, intense sexual attraction, tell us your thought on creepers and what people do that creep you out.
Shaheena: At first, I thought of an intense one sided infatuation story – a wonderfully intense love affair – but it slowly turned dark under the London fog at 4am in a disreputable nightclub and became more about obsession and fantasy and it’s dangers. Will and I have had stalkers in the past – the ominous razor’s edge of fascination.
Madness To Creation: I hate bats, what do you hate?
Shaheena: Animal testing, trophy hunters, cruelty to animals, whaling and dolphin hunts, human superstitions about endangered animal parts, the destruction and pollution of the natural world and the oceans, chemical weapons, war, the terrible leadership in the world today, and so much more.
Madness To Creation: Most challenging and rewarding part about writing Drenched?
Shaheena: The challenge is to keep developing, learning and getting better at whatever you’re working on – the reward is this being our best work yet.
Madness To Creation: What else would you like to add about She Made Me Do It?
Will: Watch out for two more videos from the new EP and then the follow up! Plus loads of gigs over the next three months. Full details at SheMMDI.com.
