Madness To Creation: You all won the East Coast championship for Wacken USA, what was your reaction to that?
Tim: Man I gotta tell you, it was kinda shocking! There was some really talented acts that night and I wasn’t sure how we’d stack up against the competition. When they called our name, I was completely stunned, like huh?! Then someone started yelling you won, you won, you won!!! And then the celebration ensued! I just didn’t expect to win considering we had only been playing out for a year at that time, it was an Amazing RUSH!
Madness To Creation: Biggest damn accomplishment of your career.
Tim: I have a few, opening for Iron Maiden (without Bruce version) in my previous band in the 90’s. Winning the 2018 East Coast USA Wacken Battle then playing the finals at the Viper Room in L.A. and releasing “War on Dead – More Dead” through Pavement Entertainment. Madness To Creation: A moment that humbled you in your career.
Tim: When a fan takes the time to walk up and compliment us after a show, it really means a lot to me, because I know I’m not owed that, it has to be earned.
Madness To Creation: You all released “War On Dead- More Dead”, take us into the writing process of Eyes of the Living, what was the most challenging and rewarding aspect of creating the album?
Tim: I love the creation process, I enjoy writing just as much as playing out live. I’m a rhythm driven dude, so I tend to start the writing process to a drum pattern that moves me, followed by vocal melodies or in my case scream patterns haha. The biggest challenge was saying its good enough, it’s done! I’m a bit of a perfectionist and that sometimes can cause delays others may find unnecessary, I often tell myself these days, done is better than perfect! The reward was seeing it become a final product, feeling great about the songs and having it ready for people to hear.
Madness To Creation: Take us into the music video for the song “Infected”, what’s the song talking about and your favorite moment in the song, whether it’s a lyric or guitar riff or rhythm?
Tim: The video was fun, challenging and a learning experience all rolled up in one! Believe it or not it was shot by us in a garage… The budget was 5 pizza’s, $110 bucks in black fabric, maybe a few beers and friends willing to work the cameras and lights, with the editing done by myself in Movie Studio Platinum. We’re glad it’s getting positive feedback and now realize the value a decent video has as a marketing tool. We’re definitely looking forward to creating another hopefully later this year. The lyrics are often interpreted in different ways, so I guess they are universal in meaning, but the song speaks to the transformation into a monster, changing into something you do not desire. My favorite part is the sections where I sing “Pray for me now” followed by the deep ahh’s! And I gotta say I also enjoy doing the solo at the intro as I only have a few on this record haha!
Madness To Creation: Big plans for Eyes Of The Living for this summer!
Tim: We have begun playing out on March 22 with dates that hit, PA, NJ, NY Delaware and Maryland. We’re looking forward to spreading out further as well, getting into Ohio, Virginia and some other East coast and Midwest states.
