Tomorrow, Mike + The Mechanics are unleashing “Out Of The Blue” via BMG to the world.  We have cried with them over loss of a loved one in “The Living Years” and have felt desperate for love in “All I Need Is A Miracle”, now we get to witness the legendary Mike Rutherford unveil a new chapter in his storied career with three brand new tracks!

We know Mike Rutherford for being the guitarist for Genesis for their second and third albums, then Mike formed Mike + The Mechanics and led the charge in defining the 80’s for soft rock with songs such as “The Living Years”, “All I Need Is A Miracle” and “Silent Running”.  In this album, we get to experience Mike + The Mechanics offer up their soulful rock that boasts of songs that are full of love, loss, and a desperation to find hope in humanity.

“Out Of The Blue” unveils the new chapter with the opening track entitled “One Way”.  It has a sleek R&B rhythm section coupled with keyboards as Mike sings of love and romance, which could make for the perfect wedding song.  We get the poetic lyrics of Mike Rutherford coupled with great storytelling in the songs.  “Out Of The Blue” instantly sounds like a contemporary radio station staple with that beat that reminds you of the midnight drive that happens in the middle of nowhere where you just need to clear your head and turn on some relaxing music.  Mike & The Mechanics provides the soundtrack to that moment.

Along with these three new songs, you get the remastered feel of the songs that you have came to know and love.  The remastered versions sound lush and they sound like Mike + The Mechanics are ready to reclaim the contemporary music mountain once again!  These songs bring back wonderful memories of my childhood and the new songs bring about that nostalgic flair as Madness To Creation rates this a 9 out of 10 stars.  Here is the track listing:
