On this lovely spring night, Chicago performed at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center.  Chicago has an uncanny ability to pour through as many hits as possible as they are the first band to chart in Billboard’s Top Pop 40 in six consecutive decades, along with having 47 albums having gone gold or platinum.  Yet, Chicago never forgets where they have came from with their impressive catalog of music.

The night was as visually appealing as it was musically appealing.  Curtains adorned the stage along with screens portraying different colors in the background.  Chicago poured through their extensive catalog keeping the people singing and dancing throughout the night.  They brought it back to a time where music was supposed to tell stories and supposed to make a person feel good.  They did this with “Introduction” and the songs “Questions 67 & 68” and “Dialogue I & II” made it feel like an intimate setting, and the whole band joined the stage for their massive song “Wake Up Sunshine”.  I felt the energy as the crowd immediately erupted into this song.

There was an awesome drum duel during the set with fire accompanying the drum duel.  I felt the cell phone lights luminating as they sang their ballad “Hard To Tell You/I’m Sorry”.  Chicago performs and sings with just as much emotion as they did the first time they performed that song.

Chicago has shown why they have done it for 52 years and counting.  They’re a big arena band with an intimate living room feel to them.  I am looking forward to the next time they come around.
