Contributor’s Note: Episode 25 of The Don’s Hit List Podcast is now available with Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria fame) who has released a brand new solo record titled “Shades Of Blue”. This latest album is a big departure from the metal side in his other band.
Danny stepped out of the venue he was going to perform in to talk to me. We went through several tracks on his solo album “Shades Of Blue” and pulled out the goosebump moments for the listener.
Danny returns to his roots before Asking Alexandria ever existed and writes songs from his soul. When I listened, I hear artists he embodies and could literally do duets with: John Mayer, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, Smokey Robinson, Wilson Pickett, The Black Crowes and so many others.
Danny also talks about a track that he wrote in 15 minutes from idea, concept, writing, recording. As he states “The fastest song I’ve ever written”. When you hear the story behind it and the angst in his vocals, you can see why this poured out of him.
Danny also discusses the “3 Take Rule” and what makes a good cover song.
