In a society where times are uncertain and people seem divided and uneasy with one another, here comes lanky Englishman Frank Turner and his backing band The Sleeping Souls to make you forget about your personal issues for a couple of hours. Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls brought their energetic set to a capacity crowd at The Paramount in Huntington on this Mother’s Day Weekend.
Frank Turner urged the capacity crowd to have fun and to not be an asshole, and the crowd certainly had a great time and there were no assholes to speak of in the capacity crowd, or so I noticed. In “Make America Great Again”, Turner made his viewpoints of President Trump loud and clear as the crowd roared in approval. Turner also gave an anti-racist public service announcement as well to let the crowd know that we are a loving and accepting community. There was also a three song mini-set within the set list where it was just Frank Turner and an acoustic guitar. This provided for a more intimate evening.
Based on the mix of Frank Turner classics and new cuts, this was surely a night to remember at The Paramount. Frank does an outstanding job of getting his messages across while making his music danceable.
