Editor’s Note: We love getting to know new bands for Madness To Creation. THE END OF AMERICA is one of them. Contrary to the band name, the band is not doom and gloom, nor do they sing about doomsday prepping as the times get tumultuous in America. No, we will not get political. This is about The End of America. The band is in the folk-rock genre and on July 19th they released their single for “Monsters”. The band is fresh off of a stellar performance at the Great South Bay Music Festival and is set to release a single every month for the rest of the year. Madness To Creation got to sit down with The End of America to discuss mental health awareness and the differences between playing festivals and club/room settings. Madness To Creation: How did The Great South Bay Music Festival go? Who was someone really cool that you got to share the stage with?
The End of America: It was silly hot that day, but being on the ocean made it all work. Quarter Horse and Miles to Dayton were awesome. Great bands.
Madness To Creation: Biggest difference between performing a festival and a club/intimate gathering?
The End of America: There’s a huge difference in the feeling of playing for a small roomand an open field of people. Both get you high, but in a different
way. At festivals, you’re trying to play with an energy that will capture and keep the attention of all the scattered people. Clubs feel different because you’re starting the set with the general agreement that artist and audience are about to go a trip together.
Madness To Creation: Describe The End Of America using a book or movie title.
The End of America: Jurassic Park. Haha, well, at least that’s our most quoted movie in the tour van. “Our lives are in your hands and you’ve got
butterfingers?”
Madness To Creation: How would you describe your role in The End Of America using an actor/actress?
The End of America: Well, Dr. Alan Grant, played by Sam Neill, obviously. Kicks ass, thinks Dr. Ellie Sattler is hot, and fears raptors.
Madness To Creation: You released “Monsters” music video, favorite and least favorite thing about music videos and take us into the song.
The End of America: Fav: seeing an artist’s visual representation of a song. Amazing how
much a good video can elevate a song. Least Fav: spending money.
The song looks at some of the more painful things about our current social climate, particularly inspired by the illegal detainment of people on our southern border. The lyrics read like a series of questions to a friend, with the ultimate sentiment being one of hope in dark times.
Madness To Creation: Biggest moment in your life.
The End of America: Getting married. That was sweet. My wife is rad and I’m lucky she digs me.
Madness To Creation: We are geared toward mental health awareness, what does that mean to you when you hear the words “mental health awareness”?
The End of America: It means thinking of the brain/emotional center being like any other part of our system that requires routine maintenance and care. Muscles need nutrients and exercise, the emotional center needs discussion, ventilation, reflection.
Madness To Creation: What are a few things you do to help with your balance and mental health and what advice do you have for my readers?
The End of America: Exercise, mediation, journaling, talk things out with my closest people. I feel so much better after I exhaust myself physically in the beginning of my day. I think that’s the most important part of my mental health regimen.
Madness To Creation: Anything awesome coming up that you would like to plug?
The End of America: Yeah, we have another single and video coming out at the end of this
month. “Howl” is the third of our monthly single campaign. We’re having a lot of fun and we’re stoked to continue the train of releases.
