Editor’s Note:  We are hoping to have Bryan Porter share his content for his Invite The Neighbors DIY Podcast.  Bryan started up this podcast as a member of Ann Arbor band Goodbye, Sleep as an effort to give DIY/unsigned musicians an outlet to discuss anything and everything that is related to a DIY musician.  This includes crappy vans, sleeping in questionable places because hotel rooms are too expensive and creating that masterpiece in an in-law’s studio which is also that in-law’s spare bedroom.  Here, Madness To Creation sat down with Bryan Porter as an opportunity to plug the Invite The Neighbors DIY Podcast along with his passion for the DIY scene. Fans can find the podcast at the following locations:

Madness To Creation:  Bryan Porter!  Madness To Creation here, what’s going on man?

Bryan:  Not much, doing good my friend!  Just hanging out and I just got off work.

Madness To Creation:  Cool man, what do you do for your day job?

Bryan:  I work for Child Protective Services actually.  I work for the state of Michigan, it’s drastically different from what I do in my free time.

Madness To Creation:  What do you do in your free time?

Bryan:  If I’m not interviewing a band with my podcast, I’m either writing music or recording music, I’m trying to record an acoustic EP for my band, if I’m not doing that, I’m writing jokes for my stand-up comedy, I do a lot of things in the arts, I basically do music and comedy, and I podcast, it’s all good stuff.  It’s all stuff that I have a lot of fun doing, and I’m busier than I have ever been.

Madness To Creation:  What do you find the most rewarding about the work that you do?

Bryan:  It feels really good to be a part of this music scene because it always feels like a local thing, no matter how far away you go, the DIY music scene is so supportive, we’re trying to be a fixture in it in a very small way when it comes to the podcast, we have bands that come on, it’s rare that a DIY band has a publicist, and the band under a publicist might not have control on what’s being published in an article.  On the Invite The Neighbors DIY Podcast, the band can say whatever they want, I don’t edit it out, I don’t plan it beforehand, I just want it to be a conversational, natural, feelgood place for bands to say whatever they want and to express themselves, it just provides that.

And there you have it!  Madness To Creation is excited to have this partnership with the Invite The Neighbors DIY Podcast.  To get a taste of the podcast, here is something that was published today, their interview with the band Antighost.
