On July 16, rock band BRKN Love released a “5 Track Sampler” to preview work to come from the band.   Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Royal Blood, and Highly Suspect are all listed as influences on the band and the listener should recognize these elements as they engross themselves in the released singles “Shot Down” and “Papercuts.”  Lead singer Justin Benlolo states through the press release,” The name represents who I am. You can be a hopeless romantic and play tough music. Most of the lyrics deal with love and loss. You can share your feelings and still rock your face off.at the end of the day.”

Benlolo also states that he envisioned a true rock band full of “big guitars, big drums, and big vocals” and the listener should receive that message loud and clear in the very first few seconds of “Shot Down.”  BRKN Love possesses a raw, authentic sound full of emotion highlighted by the depth of the lyrics. Their influences are evident yet they demonstrate uniqueness at the same time. It really is a wonderful combination!

Please check out the video for “Shot Down” below!

It’s hard to give a “star rating” to what is essentially a five-song preview of what’s to come.  However, BRKN Love definitely left me wanting more and greatly anticipating their full-length album!  This is definitely a band with a strong future!

Track Listing for this “sampler”:

  1. Shot Down
  2. Flies In The Honey
  3. Paper Cuts
