While we love covering the massive shows, there is something to be said about covering a show that is packed in a dive bar, where drinks are a-flowing and everybody is breaking out in a sweat, and seeing a band that is making their comeback along with two bands that should get some major recognition before long.  This is Lefty’s in a nutshell for you.  The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus brought their big show feel to little ol’ Lefty’s with rising stars Eyes Set To Kill and No Resolve.  Approximately 100 people were packed in this little room and Alter Within and Switchblade Saturdays warmed up the crowd for the touring package with their respective brands of rock n roll.  Detroit’s own No Resolve was the first band on the touring package to take the stage.

Honestly, I had no idea what to expect, which is the beauty of an intimate show.  My mindset is completely different when I cover these shows as opposed to covering well known national touring acts.  My mind is a lot more open and a lot more receptive to hearing some good rock n roll music.  No Resolve definitely didn’t disappoint.  They set up their own gear and stage, which shows Madness To Creation that they’re serious about honing their craft, and they provided that anticipatory setting with the ambiance and they hit hard with a Linkin Park meets Three Days Grace style of sound.  They hit hard with tracks such as “Crossed The Line”, “This Is War” and “Worth The Fight”.  I can tell immediately that this band is about well thought out songs from a lyrical and an arrangement standpoint.  I remember literally having goosebumps during their set, which certainly doesn’t happen at every show.  This band is the absolute real deal and fans need to check them out as soon as possible.

Eyes Set To Kill, out of Phoenix, Arizona, was next to take the stage.  I had no idea what to expect from them, with the exception that I heard great things about them when they opened for hard-rock heavyweights P.O.D. and Nonpoint.  The band certainly did not disappoint.  Although they only played six songs on their setlist, the band mixed up their heavy material that had more screaming with their newer material which sounds more melodic.  Their arrangements were hypnotic and the rhythm section was a force to be reckoned with.  A sweet moment occurred when the frontwoman received a red rose from a rabid fan, you can tell that melted her heart.  I cannot wait to hear more from this band!

After Eyes Set To Kill’s short set(surprised me that No Resolve seemed to have played longer than them), The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus came to rock the stage for about an hour.  What I particularly enjoyed is that the band literally wasted no time, they said to the audience, “We have a limited amount of time together, we want to get as many songs in as possible, especially the songs that you want to hear”.  The audience responded with approval.  I like it when bands don’t waste time, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus played through their songs with as much passion and zeal that Lefty’s could contain.  In fact, the band couldn’t contain themselves anymore as frontman Ronnie Winter came down to sing while the audience joined him in the singalong.  The crowd especially responded to songs such as “Misery Love Its Company”, “Your Guardian Angel”, and their monster TRL hit “Face Down”, which has over 70 million hits on YouTube.  The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is back to kick ass and chew bubblegum and they are all out of bubblegum.  They were definitely the surprise of the night!
