It was a lovely night in New York City as Angels & Airwaves sold out the Playstation Theater(in fact, people were paying up to $200 for a ticket to the show), and the crowd was abuzz with anticipation for Angels & Airwaves to take over the night.
The crowd erupted when Tom Delonge graced the stage as they broke into “Surrender”. It was like watching someone you grew up with going through a rebirth into the craft that they love as we felt the passion between Delonge’s guitar playing and his singing.
Delonge felt the atmosphere of the big city lights of New York City exude through his bones as the band played through hits such as “Paralyzed” and “The Adventure”. Angels & Airwaves showed off their musicianship with slower, meaningful cuts such as “It Hurts” and “Wolfpack”. The crowd especially enjoyed the medley of the Blink 182 classic “I Miss You”, with Boxcar Racer song “There Is”, and we saw the humorous side of Delonge and company with “Aliens Exist”, as we know about Delonge’s obsessions with aliens and all things Area 51.
The night made me fall in love with the band and with Delonge even more, as we got to see a more mature, yet still youthful side to him with Angels & Airwaves.
