Austin rockers Cowboy Diplomacy release the rugged “Mountain Man” on Friday, November 22, the third and final single in advance of their debut album Burn Down The Road, out December 13th, and Madness To Creation is happy to premiere “Mountain Man” by Cowboy Diplomacy the day before it’s released!
“Mountain Man” follows the narrative of someone who feels uneasy trying to navigate city life, misses the peace and solitude of nature, and is trying to survive and find love on a small budget. He may have “mud on his shirt and dirt in his nails” but he’s much more than that.
“A mountain man is an individual that’s rough and tough around the edges but a gentleman at heart” says frontman Ian Cochran. “A guy who wants to treat his lady like a queen, loves to be old fashioned, loves nature and animals, and feels out of place in a city.”
It’s a modern day rock anthem about two people from different walks of life. Will they find connection and common ground or will material things and status interfere?
Sings Cohran, “Hey girl I’ve cleaned up my act / And that’s a matter of fact / You’ve been the one from the start / You got my country boy heart.” The song closes with Cochran wailing “mountain man” over howling electric guitar that takes a brief pause before turning feverish. It’s a full throttle declaration of the self and of longing.
“Mountain Man” was written by Ian Cochran and Philip DeVries, recorded and produced by Eric Harrison and Michael Ingber of Studio 601 and mastered by Will Borza and Howie Weinberg.
