It was a night to beat the chilly wintry air as O.A.R. with special guest Riker and The Beachcombers took the stage at The Paramount in Huntington, New York in support of “The Mighty Fall” tour.

Riker and The Beachcombers took the stage.  Appropriately named, they had a beach party vibe to their music as they were adorned with Hawaiian shirts and leis and just with their musicianship and arrangements, you can immediately tell that they’re about having a good time and catching summer vibes no matter what season it is.  They’re starting to ride a wave of momentum with their hit video “Sex On The Beach”, which has garnered over 83,000 hits on YouTube.  With their energy and passion for having a good time, the future is looking bright for Riker and The Beachcombers.  O.A.R. is the main course for tonight.

O.A.R. took the stage to a raucous ovation.  They’re that band that is always going to have their cult following mainly due to their musicianship and their incredible live show.  The brass section provided so much energy as they played the intro to “Dangerous Connection”.  The rhythm section kept the party moving in this song with their world meets ska meets alternative vibe.  O.A.R. broke into their reggae anthem “About Mr. Brown”.  This got the crowd really moving in a “mighty” way.  Marc Roberge is proving himself to be one of the most charismatic frontmen I have ever witnessed live due to “About Mr. Brown” alone.  Richard On absolutely killed it with that lush guitar solo during this song.

They paid homage to George Strait with their cover of “Troubadour” while also paying homage to Billy Joel with their cover of “The Downeaster Alexa” before closing off the night with “I Go Through” and “Missing Pieces”.   It is plain to see why O.A.R. have sold out Madison Square Garden in New York City and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.  They deliver each and every night live and although I’m late to the party on this band, it’s better late than never!
