It was a wild and fantastic night of music as Steel Panther with special guest Stitched Up Heart took over Oklahoma City.  Not only did both bands take it over, they laid the city and the Diamond Ballroom to waste.

The lights went off and the crowd roared, and the techno/darkwave sounds of the Stranger Things theme blasted over the PA.  This built up a very nice anticipatory setting for what’s to come and that is rising metal act Stitched Up Heart, and they broke into their newest single entitled “This Skin”.  The song isn’t as heavy as their previous offerings, has a bit of a mainstream touch but Mixi and Co. definitely rocked the song.  Then, Mixi led the crowd into some “whoa” chants as they broke into “Warrior”.  After the first two songs, fans were embracing the newer direction that Stitched Up Heart has taken and that’s more of a melodic vibe to them instead of screaming.  I really enjoyed how the band played off of one another and Mixi is a charismatic frontwoman that has a gift for engaging the audience.  After ripping into “Catch Me When I Fall”, “Finally Free”, “Lost”, and the set closer “Monster”, Stitched Up Heart showcased that they can hold their own no matter who they share the stage with, especially when the headliner is way over the top.

Steel Panther came out to the tribal intro of “Everybody Wants Some” by Van Halen.  Little did I realize that song provides an amazing anticipatory setting for what’s to come.  With Steel Panther, expect the unexpected but expect to sweat your balls/ovaries off with their over the top antics.  As I expected, Steel Panther kicked into “Eyes of a Panther”, this song seems to be the battlecry for Steel Panther fans the world over and the crowd went nuts to this song.  Michael Starr and guitarist Satchel definitely carry the antics and the showmanship over.  After “Let Me Cum In” and “All I Wanna Do Is Fuck(Myself Tonight)”, and “Asian Hooker”, they kicked into their show antics.  Usually, I get annoyed when a band spends a significant amount of time bantering, but you can tell that Steel Panther was having a great time with the audience and getting the audience to laugh with their hair-metal antics, their parody, and their over-the-top ridiculous sense of humor.  They played several cuts off of their latest record entitled “Heavy Metal Rules”, and had some girls up on stage dancing for “17 Girls In A Row”, and they closed out this party with “Death To All But Metal” and their classic “Gloryhole”.  If you want some laughs while rocking out, get to a Steel Panther show as soon as possible.  Here is the setlist:
