Recently, Hispanic-MMA federation Combate Americas and AXS TV announce a partnership to provide programming in English.
Combate Americas was founded by Campbell McLaren in 2011 out of New York City and it is described as a sports franchise and mixed media company that is directed towards a Hispanic audience. Programming for Combate Americas can be found on DAZN, Univision, Univision Deportes, Azteca 7 in Mexico and on ESPN, and now AXS TV.
Some recent news is that Combate Americas cancelled their event for this Saturday at San Juan, Puerto Rico because of the devastating earthquake that rocked Puerto Rico. Here is what Campbell McLaren had to say:
“We feel that the timing of our January date will no longer allow us to accomplish our original, big picture goal of uplifting the island given everything that is going on and, that in order to achieve what we set out to, we must re-schedule the show,”
Promoter Dr. Luis Martinez also had this to say about the cancellation this Saturday:
Puerto Rico has suffered greatly these past few weeks due to the earthquakes that have hit the island, Given these extraordinary circumstances, we feel that postponing the event was the best option. Our efforts are now focused on helping get things back to normal. We are certain that the fans understand and agree with this. We will announce a new date soon.”
The card was going to be the following:
130 lb catchweight bout between Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano(1-0 MMA, 37-1-1 in boxing) of Brooklyn, New York vs. Dahianna “La Cobra” Santana (36-12 boxing, 0-0 MMA) of Dominican Republic.
Check out AXS TV debut for Combate Americas as they will be in El Paso, Texas on January 31st!
