This past Friday, San Diego’s own Hey, Chels have released their debut full-length album entitled “Everything Goes” via Bandcamp.   The LP is also streaming on all digital streaming platforms and will be released on vinyl later on this year via Brainworm Records.  It was recorded by Pat Hills at Earthtone Studios in Sacramento, California.

Hey, Chels is a four-piece alternative/punk/pop rock band composed of Jacque Mendez, Ricky Schmidt, Kevin White and Steph Presz.  They have offered this release for free because of this reasoning, “Our reasoning is that we don’t feel right asking for money right now with the current state of everything.  If you feel like helping the band out, share us with a friend, add us to a playlist, share us on your socials, we would very much appreciate it”.

San Diego’s, Hey, Chels only has two genre tags on their bandcamp; pop and sludge pop.  They are all the former, not a note or melody out of place, airy, summer day tunes for both romance and heartbreak.   Tracks like Crumbling and Pulse Check feature the albums signature bass tone, chunky and solid, reminiscent of Kim Deal, behind melodies made for singing and the wail of a guitar ranging from Malkmus to Mascis.  The titular track on Everything Goes brings the promised sludge while still crafting an inescapable chorus.  Personal favorite Floating Through Days is an instant classic, groovy and wistful.  This album hits all the right spots, leaving you warm and fuzzy and craving seconds.
