On February 26, metal giants Of Mice and Men released a three-song EP titled “Timeless.” This work is part of a larger process that will result in the band’s seventh full-length album being released by the end of 2021. Between now and then, two more EPs will accompany “Timeless.” This work also marks the band’s first release under SharpTone Records.
Prior to the release of “Timeless” there were several social media teases released by the band and a promise to embark on a new era of OM&M. However, from the first guitar riffs of the title track, there is no mistaking who the creator of this work is…and that is not a bad thing! Powered in large part by vocalist Aaron Pauley, Of Mice and Men have continued to refine what is a unique sound in the metal industry and I view this work as more of a continuation of that as opposed to a new era.
As mentioned, the title track “Timeless” kicks off the EP. It is an explosive track that should immediately strike listeners as heavier than most material off the band’s last release “Earthandsky.” The second track “Obsolete” is a track most fans will be familiar with as it was released almost two months prior to the EP release. Finally, “Anchor” wraps up what is essentially a preview of what is to come from Of Mice and Men throughout this year! Please checkout the video for “Obsolete” below:
It is difficult to give a ten-star rating to a 3-track EP. However, this work is greatly intriguing for the next two EP releases and of course the full-length album due out later this year. Of Mice and Men have already established a great legacy in the metal scene and I have full confidence their 2021 work will only add to that!
Lastly, as events are unfortunately still being cancelled in response to COVID, I simply ask readers to check the social media links below to stay up-to-date with all information regarding OMandM:
