It’s with a heavy heart to report that Slipknot co-founder and Murderdolls/Sinsaenum guitarist/drummer Joey Jordison passed away in his sleep.  Joey’s family released the following statement in regards to his passing:

Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow, To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.

On a personal note, I remember seeing Slipknot live at the US Cellular Center for the “All Hope Is Gone” tour in 2008.  I remember the energy Joey brought behind the kit and immediately realizing he was one of the sickest drummers I have ever seen live.  Joey was a showman behind the kit and he hit harder than most metal drummers I’ve seen.  Joey was so good that Metallica had him fill in for Lars Ulrich during the Download Festival in Donington Park, United Kingdom back in 2004 and he did a masterful job.  On the video, you can tell that Joey played hard to please his peers in Metallica and their fanbase.  Looking back, it was Metallica giving the nod of approval to Slipknot for their prowess in the metal scene.  Check out the video below, and Rest in Peace Joey Jordison.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Jordison family and the Slipknot/Murderdolls/Sinsaenum family.
