Editor’s Note:  Welcome to the Madness To Creation Podcast: Where You Freaking Matter! In this merging together of self-care and music, Justin Sullivan of the legendary band New Model Army joins us to talk about “Surrounded.” This is Justin’s first solo album in 18 years and it was written in a time where we were all locked down due to quarantine from the Covid pandemic. In this album, there are moments of history, moments of clarity and moments of self-reflection and self-realization. There are moments where he sounds completely somber, moments where he sounds completely introspective and moments where it sounds like a new day is upon us. That’s the artistry and the poetic way of thinking, playing and writing that Justin Sullivan possesses in his lyrics and arrangements.
