(Concert Therapy Reviews): “Drugs In California” Tour featuring TRANSVIOLET Live at Studio B at Skyway Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota (10/4/2021)

It was a beautiful Sunday night in Minneapolis packed with just incredible music and a lovely atmosphere in my second hometown.  Transviolet headlined the "Drugs In California" tour with Lorelei Marcell and an exclusive opening set performance by local Minneapolis garage punk band Vial.  Personally, I love it when a local band gets an opportunity to shine.  This tour stopped at Studio B at Skyway Theater which is one of my favorite venues to see a show. It was one of those nights I won't soon forget.  Los Angeles by way of Boston recording artist Lorelei Marcell took the stage. Lorelei Marcell toured based off of her self-titled EP and did a couple of covers originally done by H.E.R. and Hozier(no, it wasn't the "Take Me To Church" song).  It was one of those performance where she c...

(Concert Therapy Reviews): COLD Live at Underbelly in Jacksonville, Florida (9/25/2021)

It was a beautiful September night in Jacksonville, Florida and people were craving some live music. Cold delivered just that with an amazing set of new songs from the latest album The Things We Can’t Stop as well as several hits that highlight the bands two-decade career. This was a special moment for the band because it was their first hometown show since July of 2015. As the band took the stage, the excitement can be felt as the band comes out while playing an extended intro to the song “Back Home” which is the beginning track of “A Different Kind of Pain”( a little ironic as well since they were “back home”). Scooter Ward, the band’s singer and founding member takes the stage, everyone begins singing every word. He is excited to be home and the audience shares the same energy. Throu...

(Livestream Review) “Marching In Time” by TREMONTI (9/24/2021)

Marching In Time by Tremonti is by far one of the best albums that has been released this year and now is looking to take best live stream of the year. To celebrate the release of their latest album, fans were treated to a live stream that highlighted the brand-new album while also paying homage to the past albums that the band has released. This was a juggernaut of a setlist at an amazingly valued price. Tremonti started the stream of with the intro song of their first album “A World Away” and from that moment, everyone was extremely aware that the band had passion in these new songs. Tremonti sounded so great that one would have to ask, “have they played these songs before”? Everyone involved in this stream took great care, from the camera work all the way to the musicians themselves....

(Concert Therapy Reviews): Summerland Tour featuring EVERCLEAR, HOOBASTANK & WHEATUS live at Wooly’s in Des Moines, Iowa (9/11/2021)

A note to touring managers and management in the music industry, never ever schedule a tour date in Iowa when the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game is going on.  A note to bands and recording artists, if the audience size isn't what you expected it to be, play that show as if you sold out a major festival.  Everclear with special guests Hoobastank and Wheatus did just that in front of a pretty intimate audience at Wooly's in Des Moines on September 11th, 2021. Wheatus was crazy good!  I mean I only knew them from their instant classic "Teenage Dirtbag", however they just killed the audience, figuratively not literally.  I love the tongue-in-cheek vibe that Wheatus put on and the humor and sarcasm that the frontman had.  In all seriousness, if you get beyond their "nerd rock" vibe, t...

(Concert Therapy Reviews) ROYAL BLISS with THE BLACK MOODS Live at Chrome Horse Saloon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (8/26/2021)

Off in the distance, the thunder rolls and the lightning strikes, but no love was growing cold as hard rockers Royal Bliss with special guests The Black Moods and Zach Thomas rocked the Chrome Horse Saloon outdoor stage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa recently. Concertgoers and the owners of the Chrome Horse Saloon weren't exactly sure if the show was going to happen, however, it did happen in spite of threats of severe weather activity. The cool thing about this venue is every food item on the menu is biker themed and the outdoor stage is definitely accommodating for a concert, and the atmosphere made a person feel like you got invited to this really cool exclusive block party.  Plus, they were doing raffles for a local charity to help a child battling cancer and they were selling raffle tickets...

(Concert Therapy Reviews) “Satellite 20th Anniversary Tour” featuring P.O.D. Live at Wooly’s in Des Moines, Iowa (8/20/2021)

It was a lovely evening of music at Wooly's in Des Moines, Iowa.  However, something was missing.  It was a sobering night when it was reported earlier in the day that Sleep Signals had to drop off the P.O.D. "Satellite 20th Anniversary Tour" due to their horrific accident.  Our thoughts, prayers and well wishes are with the Sleep Signals camp for a quick and speedy recovery.  Due to the accident, All Good Things were the first band to take the stage. Talk about anthems, talk about our brains being blown away by the positivity and musicianship that All Good Things possess in their music.  They were promoting their album entitled "A Hope In Hell" and the songs in the album tug at the heartstrings and challenge the listener to persevere and pull through.  You could feel what they were...

(Concert Therapy Reviews): SAM HUNT with JACKIE LEE Live at MUSIKFEST at Wind Creek Steel Stage in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (8/7/2021)

Musikfest is back!  After the lost year that was 2020, Musikfest is back in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania!  Fans were clamoring to see the megastar Sam Hunt with special guest Jackie Lee tonight to a sold out crowd at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem. Jackie Lee came out with the energy to warm up the crowd.  It has to be a challenge to open for someone like Sam Hunt, but he took the challenge head on, got people to dancing like it was second nature to him.  The crowd thoroughly enjoyed songs such as "Long Year", "Getting Over You" and "Breakfast."  It was a lovely mix of country, a bit of soul and a bit of classic rock.  I foresee Jackie Lee being a full-on crossover sensation in the country music world.  Sam Hunt was ready to take the stage! A person can tell that things ...

(Livestream Review): “Vaccinated + Intoxicated” by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE (8/6/2021)

Killswitch Engage takes over all our homes and delivers a once in a lifetime experience that all of us could have on our couch with their livestream event "Vaccinated + Intoxicated" Live from The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. We all have a want and most importantly, a need to be entertained. While some areas of the world are opening up full capacity concerts, some places may not get to experience this or due to health reasons, have no choice BUT to stay home. Well, even during a time where the bands we love are struggling, they are trying to come through for us. Killswitch Engage is no exception to this. They decided to get some cameras, their instruments, and an empty room at the beautiful Palladium in Worcester and put some heart and soul into a nostalgic setlist of songs fro...

(Concert Therapy Reviews): Stendhal Festival in Limavady, United Kingdom (7/9-10, 2021)

Following the publication of Northern Ireland’s roadmap to recovery, it was a breath  of fresh summer air for Stendhal Festival director Ross Parkhill and company as  they were given the green light to bring their award-winning festival into 2021 but  with a reduced capacity and spread over two weekends for social distancing.  Comfortably homed at Ballymulley Cottage Farm, Limavady, Stendhal Festival  started in 2011 and has expanded exponentially since inception. I previously  volunteered to help bring the festival together so I saw firsthand how much the  sense of community exists within the Stendhal team as well as the intense work they  put into delivering a great weekend.  After pitching our tent in our bubble of friends, we make our way to the fields and quickly notice the prec...
