Scott Stapp: Live and Unplugged Tears Down Minneapolis!

It was a night of redemption, incredible music, and living proof that if you keep persevering in life, you can accomplish amazing things in your life.  Scott Stapp, who is known as the vocalist for Creed, is currently on his "Live and Unplugged" Tour with special guests Art Of Dying and Willett to help commemorate the groundbreaking "My Own Prison" album, which was released in 1997.  It is very difficult to believe that "My Own Prison" has been out in stores for 20 years as of this year.  Jeremy of Willett was first to take the stage at The Cabooze in Minneapolis. It was a night of stripped down, organic music.  Willett brought inspirational messages of God, hope, and faith to the crowd.  I knew that this was going to be a unique night of music when a significant part of this night at The...

Fuel Rocks Iowa!

It has been a beautiful Memorial Day Weekend and I wanted to use this time real quick to remind my readers that Memorial Weekend is more than parties and having barbecues, it's about the men and women who have made sacrifices, and if you're a veteran or currently serving and happen to be reading this, I just want to say thank you, and would shake your hand if you were physically there.  Fuel and Marcywalla(Marcy Playground with Dishwalla's bassist) took the stage and it was a great night of music. There were several hundred people in the Surf Ballroom, and they both rocked the house!  Marcy Playground primarily played cuts from their 1998 debut album, which was their critically acclaimed album that included "Poppies", "Sherry Fraser", and their staple "Sex And Candy", which definitely got...

Courage My Love and Co. Rock Des Moines!

It was a beautiful spring night in Des Moines, Iowa at a club that definitely needs more recognition!  Vaudeville Mews is definitely one of my favorite venues to see a show.  It has that dark, grimy, roaring 1920's feel to it, where it's a club one night where people can rock out to it, vaudeville comedy the next night that would remind people of the Laurel & Hardy days, and a scandalous burlesque show the following night.  Kitchener, Ontario, Canada's own Courage My Love, who are rising stars in the alternative rock scene came to throw down with us Iowa folk! Cedar Rapids, Iowa's own Hunter Dumped Us Here took the stage.  I missed out on Street Thieves.  Soon, you will get to see our interview with Courage My Love on here! Out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa is a band that could be making some...

Throw The Fight and Co. Tear Down Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis!

Sometimes we all need a night of music to rejuvenate us after that rough week of work, listening to the boss give you the same directions that you've been following over and over again, and dealing with the frustrations of picking up the slack from lazy co-workers.  The weekend hits and its time to throw down.  There is nothing that gets my blood pumping like a concert. I especially enjoy concerts when I get to check out bands/recording artists that I wouldn't normally get to see or that they're flying under the radar.  It was a night of Minneapolis/Omaha based hard-rock to soothe the soul and to ease the pain.  Eris is a band that I see doing very well for themselves in the future.  I was impressed with the dynamics of their guitar work, and the vocals that they possessed.  I can see the...

Carter Hulsey and American Opera Rock Ankeny, Iowa!

This past Friday, Carter Hulsey with special guest American Opera both play a rather unique set at The Whiskey House Bar and Grill in Ankeny, Iowa.  First of all, the show was free, secondly the show was in a restaurant atmosphere.  As a rocker, it has truly been a long time since I have seen a dinner show.  A person can get steak while enjoying some music. Carter Hulsey and American Opera swapped songs, shared the stage, and exchanged some unique stories on the meanings behind the songs that they penned.  During the sets, you can feel the mutual admiration for one another as they would perform their songs.  They both have contrasting styles in their music, as American Opera is more of the crowd that listens to Alison Weiss or This Wild Life, acoustic singer/songwriter music with a punk t...

Carry The Flame Tour featuring After The Burial Slays Iowa!

This past Saturday, Minneapolis based band After The Burial came to tear it up at Wooly's in Des Moines, Iowa.  It was a night of people packed in a sweaty club and people craving a great night of metal music. It was a night where the sub-genres of metal were also highlighted during this tour. Tragic Hero Records band Invent, Animate took the stage!  At first, they seemed a bit out of place for opening up the "Carry The Flame" tour with a band that is known for its sweeping guitar solos and intense breakdowns, however, Invent, Animate did a great job of trying to engage the audience.  Admittingly so, it was a tough night for them, although they did have their niche for an audience.  Their ambiance and screaming vocal styles brought me back to the Underoath days.  Overall, a quality set fr...
