(Premiere) “Do You Know What You Do To Me, My Love” by NIKKI GIRON, plus Interview on George Floyd & Mental Health Awareness

Editor's Note:  Denver, Colorado. Singer/Songwriter and Saxophonist Nikki Giron has been dipping into the realm of R&B and production. Originally written in a practice room at CU Denver, Nikki’s new single and music video comes out on National Red Rose Day, Friday June 12th. She chose this day because of the influence roses have on the music video as well as how they are the universal symbol of love and that’s what this song is all about. Nikki wrote this song for her singer/songwriter ensemble in college. She decided to go along with this being her next single when her talented friend Jennifer Richards told her she couldn’t get it out of her head after she performed it for her Singer/Songwriter ensemble recital through CU Denver. Nikki worked with talented studio engineer Nick Pelc of...

(Single Review) “Fight Until The End” by TRANSGRESSIONS

Recently, Chicago hard-rock trio Transgressions released their lyric video for "Fight Until The End".  The video captures some moving images and news broadcasts on the fight and the struggle to get through the Covid-19 pandemic.  We were quarantined in our homes and trying to do our part to fight this vicious pandemic.  On a side note, I've personally known four people who had the Coronavirus and one had to spend about three weeks in the hospital.  We all also know first responders, nurses and doctors who were on the frontlines.  In Iowa, there were a group of them that went to New York City to be on the frontlines.  Now, we've had over 100,000 deaths in the United States due to this pandemic and we're all clamoring for that hope.  The band Transgressions certainly provides a glimmer of li...

(Mental Health Moments) Learn To Quarantine From THE TIGER KING

The world is beset with problems. It’s a crazy year. We all need to face these problems calmly and compassionately, but there comes a point when burnout looms and you just need a break. When you reach that point, nothing helps take your mind off of your problems like a good Netflix binge. That’s a main reason so many viewers welcomed the surreal craziness of the documentary series “Tiger King” into their homes as the coronavirus lockdown began.  Under normal circumstances, most people wouldn’t find the story of big-cat rivalry, drugs, cult behavior, hypnosis, animal cruelty, and murder to be particularly comforting. But during the COVID-19 lockdown (and especially now, when nobody seems to know what to do amid nationwide protests and riots), anything that helps get your eyes off the news ...

Here at Madness To Creation, we are more than happy to premiere the single for "Happy When I'm Sad" by RENAISSANCE GRRL.  Renaissance Grrl is the side-project of 18-year old Alannah Jackson of Miss Kill fame.  Renaissance Grrl described as‘a young Kurt Cobain ’by Luke Pritchard of The Kooks, has her first single being released on the 5th of June, titled ‘Happy When I’m Sad’. This song captures the feelings of being shut in your room for 3 months with music as your only friend. This single was written at a time of absolute isolation, when there was absolutely nothing to do but music, dark times but the best of times. This is a song that everyone can relate to not only musicians but people who have only the voices inside their head to talk to.‘Happy When I’m Sad’is a reverb soup wrapped up in ...

(Mental Health Moments) “Aberrations” by ROBERT BRUCE JACKSON CARUTHERS

Today, Albuquerque, New Mexico poet/singer-songwriter Robert Bruce Jackson Caruthers is releasing his full-length album entitled "Aberrations" via Bandcamp and Spotify.  This album is certainly a step in the right direction for a potentially budding career for Robert Bruce Jackson Caruthers. Robert Bruce Jackson Caruthers began attempting a career in songwriting at the urging of his husband, whom he met when they were both homeless in Charleston, South Carolina where Robert was attempting to stowaway on a container ship bound for Amsterdam to meet a man claimed to have been unwashed for 35 years.  Robert sometimes refers to himself in the third person.  Robert describes the following about "Aberrations" "It's partly autobiographical, I spent a few years homeless and in jails up in th...

(Mental Health Moments) “Musings & Reflections on Des Moines I Still Can’t Breathe Protest for George Floyd”(5/30/2020)

Today, people from all across this country stood in solidarity and as one for a common goal, and that is to demand justice for George Floyd.  As you are well aware of, George Floyd was MURDERED by four police officers in Minneapolis.  There was an incredible peaceful protest in the memory of George Floyd that took place on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 in Des Moines, Iowa. When I first saw the video footage of George Floyd being slain, I went through many emotions in my head.  The first one was complete disbelief.  My first question was, how can this happen to a city I have spent so much of my life in?  Minneapolis was my home away from home, where I would go see the Minnesota Twins play, where I would photograph concerts and even spent my adolescent and teenage years attending concerts, plu...

(Album Review) “All Birds Deserve to Fly” by KADIMA

All Birds Deserve To Fly is the debut album from Kadima, the brainchild of Seattle-based guitarist Aidan Israel. The album is deeply conceptual born from Aiden’s personal experiences with mental illness and his beliefs. "‘All Birds Deserve to Fly’ is a concept album detailing mental health struggles and my spiritual connection to Judaism,” says Israel. “When one writes music, they’re meant to rip themselves open and expose themself to the world. The concept of KADIMA is meant to guide our light to a new level of spiritual understanding and wisdom. I am beyond honored to share this with you all as it truly means the world to me.” Here and Where, opening with a spoken word section performed by Aiden, gently draws the listener into the intimate emotional aspects of this album; it immedi...
