(Album Review) “Seasons” by Sylar

Just when you think you've heard the premiere band that sounds bombastic as a live act, here comes Queens' own Sylar roaring with their October 5th release entitled "Seasons", which is available via Hopeless Records. Sylar provides that moxie for the downtrodden, that muscle for the weak, and that empowerment for those that feel like victims with their authentic lyrics, straightforward arrangements, and heartfelt emotions in their vocals.  Sylar tapped Erik Ron(Godsmack, Issues, Blessthefall) to produce this monster of a record.  Sylar has also wowed crowds on their runs with Attila, Insane Clown Posse, Ice Nine Kills, and the Vans Warped Tour with their rap rock swagger coupled with the take no prisoners vibe that New York City offers. The record has swagger, yet it doesn't seem arr...

(Album Review) “Gravity” by Bullet For My Valentine

In the metal world, Welsh rockers Bullet For My Valentine have showcased their sheer talent for melody and well thought out arrangements.  With each album, Bullet For My Valentine has allowed their legion of fans to unpack layers of the band as they offered up new elements with each album.  However, with "Gravity", they are bound to be taking that road less traveled that Ralph Waldo Emerson would famously coin way back when. We have seen bands such as Parkway Drive and Blessthefall evolve their sound over time to sound virtually night and day from their debut record to their current record.  With "Gravity", fans will see Bullet For My Valentine continue that same trend as this record offers more electronica elements and more of an alt-metal sound to their music.  This move could alienate ...

Dan Tompkins of TesseracT Converses with Madness To Creation on “Sonder”, Neil DeGrasse Tyson and When He Truly Experienced “Sonder”

Editor's Note:  It was such a glorious night seeing an amazing band in TesseracT leave their audience awestruck at the Skyway Theater in Minneapolis with special guests Plini and Astronoid.  It literally felt like another dimension with the ominous ambiance and the lights, which instead of playing the same old generic rock songs in between sets, they left their audience in anticipation for roughly 20 minutes and showed why they deserved to headline.  Dan certainly has one of the best voices in metal which is a mix of Geoff Tate(formerly of Queensryche) and Maynard James Keenan of Tool(and A Perfect Circle), and after discussing "Sonder" and other topics with him, you can tell that he's a thinking man's musician.  In the meantime, fans can find TesseracT at the following locations: www.f...

(Album Review) “Firepower” by Judas Priest

The long-awaited and highly anticipated release of the the 18th full-length album from Judas Priest comes in the shadow of the sad discovery regarding Glenn Tipton's health condition. The good news is that “Firepower” is a very successful attempt by the Metal Legends to revisit their past glory with a modern sound. The band unleashes a searing and blazing attack from the first notes and the title track along with "Lightning Strike" constitute a jaw-dropping 1-2 to start the album, firing on all cylinders. "Evil Never Dies" is a thrashy character that would fit nicely somewhere inside the New Jersey thrashers' discography. "Necromancer", "Spectre" and "Traitors Gate" are metal anthems with face-smashing guitars and possessed vocals. "Never The Heroes" and "No Surrender" have this 1980s vib...

Beau Bokan of blessthefall Converses with Madness To Creation on Choosing to Rise Again After Being Left for Dead, Bread, and Starbucks!

Editor's Note:  It was a great time chatting with one of my favorite vocalists in Beau Bokan of blessthefall.  What I've always appreciated about Beau is his brutal honesty and that he promotes living a healthy lifestyle.  We weren't sure what was going to happen with blessthefall, then their signing with Rise Records happened and they released a total annihilation of an album in "Hard Feelings", which sounds like they've been through some things and saw some things that they weren't supposed to see in this industry(figuratively) and decided to write about it!  After a successful tour providing support for the likes of Of Mice & Men, Cane Hill, and Fire From The Gods, blessthefall is set to provide support for the megatour featuring Asking Alexandria and Black Veil Brides.  Fans can fi...

On March 23rd, blessthefall unleashed their Rise Records debut entitled "Hard Feelings".  Fans will expect a different sound incorporated in here which will guarantee a satisfied fanbase that they have toiled over in maintaining plus acquiring new fans with their sonic production, emotional songs, and hard hitting choruses and rhythms. Sometimes a change of scenery is what is needed in life, sometimes we need to pack up our belongings and start over in life, where we can feel fresh and anew.  blessthefall has encapsulated their career with all the changes in terms of record deals, changing singers, and just an overall sweeping change of the music industry and packed their feelings into this hard hitting album.  With the scenario I painted you, this immediately makes the music relatable to...
