(Concert Therapy Reviews) “Satellite 20th Anniversary Tour” featuring P.O.D. Live at Wooly’s in Des Moines, Iowa (8/20/2021)

It was a lovely evening of music at Wooly's in Des Moines, Iowa.  However, something was missing.  It was a sobering night when it was reported earlier in the day that Sleep Signals had to drop off the P.O.D. "Satellite 20th Anniversary Tour" due to their horrific accident.  Our thoughts, prayers and well wishes are with the Sleep Signals camp for a quick and speedy recovery.  Due to the accident, All Good Things were the first band to take the stage. Talk about anthems, talk about our brains being blown away by the positivity and musicianship that All Good Things possess in their music.  They were promoting their album entitled "A Hope In Hell" and the songs in the album tug at the heartstrings and challenge the listener to persevere and pull through.  You could feel what they were...

(Concert Therapy Reviews): VIXEN Live at The Landis Theater in Vineland, New Jersey (7/11/2021)

While trying to write this review... all I keep referencing back to in my mind is Lorraine Lewis's use of the term "Hella-cool". If I may be so bold, I'd like to use this word to describe the recent Vixen show I was lucky enough to see. Vixen has been rocking the stages for the past few decades and in their original hey-day I wasn't able to see them. However this time around, that was not the case. Playing recently at the beautiful Landis Theater in Vineland, NJ, I was not going to miss this opportunity. Local NJ Cat Manning opened up the show. I was unfamiliar with her work before hearing her at this show. But I have to say WHAT A TALENT. Cat has a great voice- powerful, expressive and she can really belt out a tune. She has the kind of voice which makes people take notice. A little bit ...

(Concert Reviews): STYX Live at Five Flags Event Center in Dubuque, Iowa (7/3/2021)

How does one encapsulate a 40 plus year career into one evening?  Especially when that band has had historical accomplishments such as playing the pre-game show of Super Bowl XXXV, had a moon named after them by NASA themselves, and have sold millions of records, had chart topping singles and continue to release critically acclaimed albums such as their most recent effort "Crash of the Crown?"  I mean, what else needs to be said about Styx.  They continue to wow audiences and they delivered an amazing performance at the Five Flags Event Center in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday, July 3rd. After I got through the gate, I stood there for a moment and just took in the atmosphere that we've all dearly missed due to the Covid pandemic.  It was like people took their problems and concerns and caste...

(Concert Review): The Welcome Back New York Concert featuring THE VELVICKS & FAT HEAVEN- East Riverbank Amphitheater in New York, New York (6/12/2021)

After many long and arduous months it's starting to appear that the world is getting back to "normal". People are outside cycling, barbequing, lounging in the sun and live music is finally putting it's feet into the wading pool to test the waters. This past Saturday LAUNCH featured a small, free and very intimate concert in New York City's East River Ampitheater featuring The Velvicks and Fat Heaven. If you're not familiar with either band, that's ok. I wasn't very familiar with them either not too long ago. First up was Fat Heaven who's pop punk energy rivalled that of a young Green Day. Their songs were catchy and downright FUN. Their set was short, as were most of the songs- but their sound was good. One of the best tunes of the day was Crybaby. Check out their  Bandcamp ...

(Concert Review) SILVERSTEIN & FOUR YEAR STRONG Live at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey (3/7/2020)

Luckily, we got to see Silverstein and Four Year Strong as Silverstein celebrated 20 years as a band with three sets with Four Year Strong providing support along with I, The Mighty!  It was a packed house as Silverstein has the reputation of absolutely delivering each and every night live!  Silverstein has also released "A Beautiful Place To Drown" while Four Year Strong is celebrating the recent release of "Brain Pain" via Pure Noise Records.  I, The Mighty was the first band on the bill. San Francisco's I, The Mighty were the perfect crowd to warm up the crowd for Silverstein and Four Year Strong.  Their vocals are soulful and versatile, and the guitars seemed to have provided perfect harmonics in order to create a fantastic alternative rock sound.  The songs "Pet Names", "Failures" an...

(Concert Review) REFUSED Live at Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis, Minnesota (2/29/2020)

It was an extremely emotional night, a night where people come together to unite to let the powers that be that there's a lot more of us than of them.  A night where music had messages of rights for refugees, antiwar sentiments, pro feminism, and environmental and social justice.  Legendary punk rockers Refused with special guests Youth Code and Racetraitor took the stage in an extremely packed house at the Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Leap Year.  Interview with Denis of Refused is coming soon!  Racetraitor was the first band to take the stage. Racetraitor opened up the night.  Out of Chicago, the band displays a level of intensity that I haven't seen in quite sometime.  Lyrics that cut through you like a knife coupled with passionate screams, a rhythm section t...

(Concert Review) SKILLET Live at Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (2/26/2020)

It was such a "legendary" night at a packed house at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City as Skillet with special guests From Ashes To New and Ledger brought a night of exciting rock and showmanship to Sooner country.  Skillet is currently on the "Victorious" tour and decided to give their drummer's band a shot with Ledger opening up the show.   Photo Credit for Ledger:  Ledger I didn't know what to expect when it came to Ledger.  I knew that they were pretty significant in the Christian rock genre, but they blew me away live!  I always dug Ledger's background vocals in Skillet as she added another dynamic to some of Skillet's mainstream rock hits.  Ledger definitely showcased a lot of charisma and confidence opening up and they did a phenomenal job warming up the crowd for Fro...

(Concert Review) BETH HART Live at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, United Kingdom (2/17/2020)

This was truly a double bill made in heaven.  Both artists I had always intended to see live but for various reasons had never been able to actually manage to do exactly that.  Kris Barras, the former MMA fighter turned blues music troubadour, would be playing acoustically as a tasty warmup to the enigmatic majesty of Beth Hart herself.  After being introduced to Beth's recent album release ”War In My Mind” I was keenly anticipating hearing the new songs performed as well as her back catalogue standards   However  once again the fickle hand of fate played its part-as due to an extended work shift that I could not avoid I arrived at the venue unfortunately too late to witness Kris Baras' support slot.I was however particularly thankful that Beth had not yet taken to the stage. The B...

(Concert Review) FALLING IN REVERSE Live at House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio (2/18/2020)

It was an absolutely fucking amazing night as Falling In Reverse headlined "The Drug In Me Is Gold" tour with special guests Escape The Fate and The Word Alive.  It was a packed house, especially for a weeknight at the House of Blues in Cleveland, where the floor was completely sold out, with just a small smattering of balcony seats available for the show. It was a hyped night as Escape The Fate and The Word Alive definitely did their job by warming up the crowd for Falling In Reverse.  I've been really digging the song "Popular Monster" as of late, as that song has been really resonating with so many people and touching so many lives due to their take on mental health awareness.  Falling In Reverse started off with their songs "The Westerner" and "Goodbye Graceful" and in the middle of...
