(EP Review) “Beloved” by New Lingo

Honestly, I've never listened to this band before.  I was sitting at Spicoli's with my friends and they were performing providing direct support for Smile Empty Soul and Flaw on the "Flawless Smile Tour" at Spicoli's Grill in Waterloo, Iowa.  Their rhythms, vocals, and arrangements immediately grabbed my attention.  I immediately picked up a copy of the EP and threw a five-dollar bill into their tip jar, and popped the "Beloved" EP into my car.  Let me tell you, what an engaging listen this EP is! "Beloved" was released April 28th of this year with the help of Nick Ingram(Courage My Love, City Lights, Hawthorne Heights) at Capitol House Studio in Ohio and Kris Crummett(Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, Dance Gavin Dance) helped with the mixing and mastering of the EP.  The band is composed ...

Nicolas Costa of Talia Converses with Madness To Creation on “The Flawless Smile” Tour and the “Afraid Of Heights” Lyric Video

Editor's Note:  Talia recently wrapped up their direct support billing for Smile Empty Soul and Flaw on "The Flawless Smile" tour.  They have also received quality reviews on their recently released EP "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie", which was released via Pavement Entertainment.  Fans can keep up with Talia at the following locations: www.facebook.com/taliarock www.taliarock.com Fernetti:  How did the tour go with Smile Empty Soul and Flaw? Nicolas:  It was great! We learned a lot from them by watching them play, the way they do business, the way they talk to the crowd...A lot you can learn when you travel with bands that tour a lot...Then after a show in Ohio that went really good, people were all around us buying us drinks and we were hammered, we started acting a little stupid and...

(EP Review) “Let Sleeping Dogs Lie” by Talia

On May 4, Talia released the aformentioned EP "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie".  Talia is a trio consisting of Nicolas Costa on vocals and guitar, Alice on bass, and Nicky on drums.  The band is based out of Paris and considers Los Angeles their “American home” as they play shows in both North America and Europe.  It was promised that the band delivers a “heavier and rawer” sound with Let Sleeping Dogs Lie compared to their previous three EPs and that was a promise kept! Talis is self-described as being influenced by ‘90s grunge bands and that is evident to the listener immediately with the opening riffs of Afraid of Heights.  Costa has a distinct voice, yet also a voice that throws one back to the mid-90s and I mean that in a good way!  Afraid of Heights is a raw song full of imagery ...

Madness To Creation Converses with Dash Cooper of CO-OP on Hymns, Touring with Flaw, and Dash Picks His 2 Favorite Alice Cooper Songs!

Editor's Note:  What a tremendous night of music it was at Spicoli's Rockade in Waterloo, Iowa as Dash Cooper and his band CO-OP destroyed the stage with their brand of desert rock in the cold winter night(yes we still have winter during the month of April in Iowa).  In this, Dash Cooper, who is the son of legendary rocker Alice Cooper, discusses music, his upbringing of having a famous father, and he also discusses his performance as King Herod on the NBC special "Jesus Christ Superstar".  This June, CO-OP will releasing their debut album via EMP Label Group, and have released their single entitled "N.O.W." on radio and it's currently making waves as it has hit the Top 40! Fans can find CO-OP at the following locations: www.facebook.com/coopband www.co-oprocks.com www.instagram.c...

Madness To Creation Converses with Chris Volz of Flaw on Independent Thinking, Alice Cooper, and Some Specs on Upcoming Summer Release!

Editor's Note:  It was a pretty surreal night at Spicoli's Rockade.  As a native Iowan, I get giddy when something gets mentioned out of our state in national media.  Happened to tune into the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and they were poking fun at President Donald Trump about using a GoFundMe page to build the wall on the border of United States and Mexico, then Colbert mentioned Flaw and how they needed a touring vehicle for their band to go to Spicoli's Rockade in Waterloo, Iowa.  Here, I will post the video interview and a review of the show featuring Flaw, CO-OP, and The Crowned! At Spicoli's Rockade, Flaw headlined the show with special guests CO-OP and The Crowned! Out of Texas, The Crowned was the first band to take the stage.  The Crowned is composed of Marc Coronado ...

Ded Reflects on the Incredible Year 2017 was with Madness To Creation!

Editor's Note:  2017 was an incredible year for rock music.  We saw the return of rock music to the forefront.  If I were a historian, I would say it's in four-fold, it was the year of the big bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Guns 'N' Roses from a tour package standpoint.  It was also the year of gritty, dirty classic rock such as Greta Van Fleet, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Royal Blood heading to the forefront.  It was also bands such as In This Moment, Avenged Sevenfold, and Trivium taking that next step, and lastly, Ded came out of nowhere to stun the masses with their live energy and stealing the show opening up for the likes of Korn and Stone Sour.  As raucous and determined as Ded is on the live stage, they are as equally as chill of people that you could talk to you.  They...

“1711” by Katastrophes Tomb, raw bludgeoning power!

After recently seeing their set when they opening for The Acacia Strain during their one-off show before embarking on the Vans Warped Tour, I became further intrigued with this band.  It was an intense live show that was highly engaging for the packed house at the Vaudeville Mews.  This band is known as Katastrophes Tomb, and on July 21st, they have released their EP entitled "1711" via Reverb Nation, Bandcamp, and SoundCloud. Katastrophes Tomb is composed of Vincent Venn on vocals, Taylor Soloman on drums, Brian Lundy on guitars, Curtis Coleone on bass, and Joe Youngbear on guitars.  This year alone, Katastrophes Tomb has shared the stage with the likes of the aforementioned The Acacia Strain, Flaw, Psychostick, Motograter, Mushroomhead, Madame Mayhem, and American Head Charge.  They a...
