(The Don’s Hit List with The Don & The Grizz Ep. 273): Anne Autumn of UPON WINGS

Contributor's Note:  Anne Autumn of Detroit, Michigan "opera/metal" band Upon Wings returns to The Don's Hit List with The Don & The Grizz for the 273rd episode via FAB Radio International.  On March 26th, Upon Wings released their single "Eternal Way", which features Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear via Spotify, iTunes and Amazon. They also discuss the role Judas Priest and Geoff Tate of Queensryche played in influencing their music.  I immediately think of the operatic sounds of Tarja meeting the larger than life musicianship of Within Temptation.  Fans can check out Upon Wings on Facebook, Twitter and their official website.  Fans can find The Don's Hit List with The Don & The Grizz on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and their official website. Donny Hillier of TRAUMA Discusses his Career and Cliff Burton in Trauma with Mark Dean of Madness To Creation

Contributor's Note: Late 2020 will prove to be a busy time for first wave thrash metallists Trauma, as they will release their fourth full-length release overall, as well as touring throughout Europe on a bill also featuring Ross the Boss and Burning Witches. Comprising members Donny Hillier - lead vocals, Kris Gustofson - drums, Greg Christian - bass guitar, Joe Fraulob - guitars and Steve Robello - guitars, Trauma looks to build on the buzz created by their last album, 2018’s ‘As the World Dies.’   “Trauma is currently considering what the album should be called,” explains Kris. “Usually for us we have to think about a theme/scope of the recorded songs and what it represents for the time now. Hopefully we will have something soon that makes sense for the recorded collection of tracks,...

Bobby Blitz(OVERKILL) & Mark Menghi(METAL ALLEGIANCE) of BPMD Discusses “American Made” & Covid-19 with Mark Dean of Madness To Creation

Contributor's Note:  In an era where heavy rock supergroups have become the norm I was ready to dismiss yet another. However the personnel comprising this particular one certainly made me sit up and notice.  Consisting of heavy metal icons Bobby Blitz (Overkill) on vocals, drummer Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Sons of Apollo), bassist Mark Menghi (Metal Allegiance) and guitarist Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head)  they recently announced  new details regarding their debut album. BPMD will release their upcoming full-length, American Made, on June 12, 2020 via Napalm Records. The 10-track homage to some of rock music's greatest treasures is turbocharged by the experience and enthusiasm of its four creators, and its first single, "Toys In The Attic" – an Aerosmith classic just beggi...

(Album Review) “School of Hard Knocks” by BIFF BYFORD

On February 21st, legendary Saxon frontman Biff Byford released his first ever solo album entitled "School of Hard Knocks" via Silver Linings Music.  Based on interview with Madness To Creation a couple of years ago, we learned that Biff was quite the history buff.  Here is what we had to say in regards to "School of Hard Knocks": Depending on your level of now cultish interest in 70's and 80's Heavy Metal you might have missed Saxon amongst fellow Englishmen and household names, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.  However, Saxon had all the elements of a great British Heavy Metal Band; driving guitars, epic vocals, the occasional baroque element, big hair and theatrics.  Saxon really rocked though and could carry themselves on the weight of their songs, tales of Arthurian conquest and black-t...

DON JAMIESON Converses with Madness To Creation on “Denim and Laughter” and the Art of Comedy!

Editor's Note:  A few years back, I remember seeing very funny comedy Don Jamieson on VH1's "That Metal Show" featuring Jim Florentine and Eddie Trunk and thinking not only he's a very funny guy, but he is a metal aficionado.  On February 21st, Don Jamieson released "Denim and Laughter" with the help of Biff Byford of Saxon himself! Don recently wrapped up emceeing the Monsters of Rock Cruise and also emceed The Masquerade Rock Fest featuring Puddle of Mudd, Fuel and Sponge this past December in New York.  He will be on tour with Biff Byford of Saxon coming up.  In this interview with Madness To Creation, Don Jamieson discusses "Denim and Laughter", mental health awareness, and some amazing bands and albums that he loves!  Fans can find Don Jamieson at the following locations: www.faceb...

(Concert Review) URIAH HEEP Live at The Paramount in Huntington, New York (5/14/2019)

It is no secret that Judas Priest were the premiere band leading the charge of the NWOBHM movement of the late 70's and 80's.  Fans couldn't help but be enthralled with the piercing voice of Rob Halford or their epic arrangements.  Judas Priest packed The Paramount in Huntington on May 14th with Uriah Heep playing the role as direct support band. Uriah Heep certainly showed that they still have it after all of these years.  From their harmonies to their pulsating arrangements, it is no secret that Uriah Heep is pretty much one of the best kept secrets in hard rock history.  You can't help but get on your feet and sing to songs such as "Easy Livin'", "Too Scared to Run", and "Sunrise".  Uriah Heep did what a direct support band should do and that is whet the ol' appetite for the legendary ...

(Concert Review) DIO RETURNS Live at The Myth in Maplewood, Minnesota (6/15/2019)

It was a rainy night at The Myth in Maplewood, Minnesota, which was appropo for this evening as the fans at The Myth in Maplewood, Minnesota turned out to see Dio Returns live on this rainy night.  This night was essentially a tribute to legendary metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio, who lost his battle to stomach cancer about five years ago.  EyeIlusion presented Dio in holographic form and the original members of Dio, with the exception of the bass player who is in Dio Disciples commanded the stage on this night with special guest Jizzy Pearl's Love/Hate.  Jizzy Pearl's Love/Hate was the first to take the stage. What a solid opening band that Jizzy Pearl's Love/Hate was.  They commanded the stage and Jizzy Pearl has a voice that can belt it.  It's plain to see why he was involved as a mem...

Trevor Phipps of Unearth Converses with Madness To Creation on Poker Tips, Remembering Vinnie Paul, and America’s Screwed Up Environmental Policies!

Editor's Note:  Let me tell you, this was one of the most chill interviews I have ever done.  Trevor Phipps of Unearth was like a long lost friend that I reconnected with.  Unearth was getting ready to dominate the Vans Warped Tour and we talked about everything from games on smartphones, to Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell, to even Donald Trump's skewed environmental policies.  Unearth's single "Incinerate" recently hit number one on "The Devil's Dozen" via Liquid Metal.  Fans can find Unearth at the following locations: Madness To Creation:  (As Trevor is finishing up with a game on his smartphone), What kind of video games do you like to play? Trevor:  Not much of a gamer, but on the road, I like to play games.  I'll show you, (pulls out his phone), it's Clash Royale, it's like Cla...
