(Single Premiere) “Backroads, Crickets And Toads” by BOOMBOX POETS ft. LIL HUJO

Boombox Poets are presenting something a bit different with their new single 'Backroads, Crickets And Toads'. Their distinctive vocals accompany a strong US blues style carried through the instrumentation. In the words of the band: “Enjoy this collab with a bourbon or a jar of shine!” Founded in 2010, by vocalists Mike Burch and Josh French, Boombox Poets was born out of the South End of Louisville, Kentucky. With the additions of Anthony Slack (guitar), Antonio Edward (bass), Animal Tom (drums, vocals) and Jake Buckley (keyboard), Boombox Poets combine lyrically driven Hip Hop / Rap with heavy influences of Rock, Metal, Blues, and Funk. Reminiscent of acts like Linkin Park, Rage Against The Machine, and The Beastie Boys, Boombox Poets brings forth an assault of musical energy that is a...

(Mental Health Conversations): Madness To Creation Podcast Ep. 2: Ariel Bloomer of ICON FOR HIRE

Editor's Note:  It is certainly not every day where you get to talk to someone that just blows you away.  Ariel Bloomer of Icon For Hire did that to Madness To Creation.  Her personality and music is the embodiment of what Madness To Creation stands for and that is merging mental health with their art.  Ariel has a viral Ted Talk and Icon For Hire's music has hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify and millions of hits on YouTube.  The reason is simple, their message is honest, forthright, and tugs at the heartstrings.  In this conversation with Madness To Creation, Ariel Bloomer of Icon For Hire discusses her Ted Talk, Icon For Hire's latest music, opening up about her depressive tendencies and upcoming album that is due out February 21st, 2021.  Fans can find Icon For Hire ...

(Album Review) “Your Receding Warmth” by BOUNDARIES

Having originally formed in 2015, the metallers from Connecticut have taken their sound to explore new guttural depths. ‘Your Receding Warmth’ by Boundaries follows the release of their 2019 EP ‘My Body In Bloom’. Aggressive vocals, guttural lows and pretty epic breakdowns are what you will find on this album. ‘Is Survived By’ bulldozes straight in there – this isn’t an album to gently get into, it throws you headfirst into the (metaphorical) mosh pit. They take influences from a wide variety of sources, including those well-known early metal bands that lured us all into the dark world of metal: Slipknot, Linkin Park, Static X. Tracks ‘Get Out’ and ‘Behind the Bend’, in particular, both bring in a few recognisable Slipknot elements. The spoken elements that appear throughout the album i...

PContributor's Note: Puddle of Mudd have recently risen from the ashes with their sixth studio album in nearly a decade, entitled Welcome to Galvania. Formed in 1991, Puddle of Mudd has sold over seven million albums and has had a string of number-one singles, including the hits “Blurry,” "She Hates Me," and "Famous." Their  newest album, Welcome to Galvania, was produced by Cameron Webb (Alkaline Trio, Disturbed, Motorhead). It also marks the band’s first full-length album since Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love and Hate in 2009.  “This album has been a long time coming. I’m just so happy to finally get it out there for my fans,” says Puddle of Mudd’s frontman, Wes Scantlin. “I hope the new music inspires my fans to live their lives. (EP Review) “Ether” by MARK MORTON

This past Friday, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton released his solo EP entitled "Ether" via Rise Records.  This EP will take the listener to another side of Mark Morton as a person and as a musician. The EP features guest appearances by touring vocalist Mark Morales, John Carbone of Moon Tooth, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and Howard Jones of Light The Torch(ex-Killswitch Engage).  Mark Morton started to get recognition from his solo career for his smash hit of "Cross Off", which featured the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. Webster's Dictionary defines "Ether" as a colorless but highly flammable liquid.  It is used as a solvent in scientific laboratories.  The title of the EP is appropriate based upon Mark Morton's work on this EP.  He's able to use his intricate guitar work on t...

We Nerd Out Vol. 111: Some of the Most Important Live Performances of the Decade!

What a decade it was from a music standpoint.  Seeing bands come and go, trends come and go, but we've see so many things happen good and bad, that we need to reflect on this decade.  Some videos have been where you're sure it's the next big thing, and some have ended up tragic.  There is no particular order to this, Madness To Creation just wanted to reflect on some important live performances this decade:  "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele Live Grammy Performance This performance showcased soul coming back to the forefront in forms of a British woman that was angry over a breakup.  She looked elegant on the Grammy stage, and it felt like going back in time.  It caused us to pay attention to what the British pop scene was doing all over again. 2.  Linkin Park "One More Light" ...

(Concert Review) THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS with special guests EYES SET TO KILL & NO RESOLVE Live at Lefty’s in Des Moines, Iowa (9/8/2019)

While we love covering the massive shows, there is something to be said about covering a show that is packed in a dive bar, where drinks are a-flowing and everybody is breaking out in a sweat, and seeing a band that is making their comeback along with two bands that should get some major recognition before long.  This is Lefty's in a nutshell for you.  The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus brought their big show feel to little ol' Lefty's with rising stars Eyes Set To Kill and No Resolve.  Approximately 100 people were packed in this little room and Alter Within and Switchblade Saturdays warmed up the crowd for the touring package with their respective brands of rock n roll.  Detroit's own No Resolve was the first band on the touring package to take the stage. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect,...
