(Highlight Reel): Juno Award Winning Alt-Rockers DEAR ROUGE Educates Us on Social Media Usage with “Fake Fame”

Editor's Note:  Here at Scholastic Perspectives, we'll be examining social media usage and its impact on students coming up.  As an educator, one thing I've noticed is missing is the lack of digital citizenship that is being taught towards our students.  Because of this, students aren't socialized like they should be and major cyberbullying issues arise because of the lack of digital citizenship in the curriculum.  As educators, we need to realize that cell phones are here to stay and we need to adapt, and that's teaching students how to interact appropriately on their cell phones.  Also, set aside times to put away the cell phone and be present, especially when you're with loved ones, nature, or at concerts and other forms of entertainment.  In this highlight reel with Scholastic Perspect...

(Mental Health Conversations): Matt Mucerino of CROSSING I’S DOTTING T’S

Editor's Note:  Matt Mucerino of Crossing I's Dotting T's converses with Madness To Creation to talk about mental health, music and their latest EP.  Crossing I's Dotting T's, out of Costa Mesa, California, recently released their EP, which is one of the most heartfelt EP's I've heard in quite sometime.  Their self-titled EP was inspired by Matt losing his cousin/best friend to cancer at the age of 21.  Their song "See You At Your Funeral" is specifically about his cousin/best friend, while the other songs touch on mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and not feeling wanted.  This EP is a wonderful listen as it mixes the 90's power rock along with the 2000's brand of post-hardcore/emo, and I see Crossing I's Dotting T's doing very well for themselves in the future.  Fans can fi...

Hollywood Stars Who Starred in Bands

Alongside music, Hollywood is another outlet that helps people with their personal wellbeing. A great album uplifts the spirits and can make you feel better in yourself, and a good film can do the same. Often, a movie with a great soundtrack hits two birds with one stone and stands out from the crowd. Thanks to great music, films such as The Crow and even chick-flick Dirty Dancing were elevated to popularity beyond their cinematic qualities. Sometimes, musicians cross over into films, too. Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne appeared in the 2000 release Little Nicky, as well as Austin Powers: Goldmember. Gwen Stefani (Aviator), Cher (Moonstruck) and David Bowie (Labyrinth) have all swapped the recording studio for the film studio, with moderate success. That gives their fans somethi...

(Mental Health Conversations) Madness To Creation Podcast Season 2 Ep. 13: Elias Soriano of NONPOINT

Editor's Note:  Elias Soriano, frontman of the amazing metal band Nonpoint, sat down with the Madness To Creation Podcast to get some things off his chest in a "Ruthless" fashion.  Nah, he was chill as the North Pole(for now given climate change).  Nonpoint has had one of the most productive "offseasons" aka Covid Season in the music industry.  First of all, they started their own record label called 361 Degrees.  Elias and his camp are taken their knowledge on what they learned in the music industry and applying it to the label and to bands and recording artists.  Secondly, they've had a song be the main theme song for the superior wrestling company AEW entitled "Ruthless.".  "Ruthless" is creating unprecedented success for this band.  If you don't believe me, check out their viral vi...

(Concert Review): The Welcome Back New York Concert featuring THE VELVICKS & FAT HEAVEN- East Riverbank Amphitheater in New York, New York (6/12/2021)

After many long and arduous months it's starting to appear that the world is getting back to "normal". People are outside cycling, barbequing, lounging in the sun and live music is finally putting it's feet into the wading pool to test the waters. This past Saturday LAUNCH featured a small, free and very intimate concert in New York City's East River Ampitheater featuring The Velvicks and Fat Heaven. If you're not familiar with either band, that's ok. I wasn't very familiar with them either not too long ago. First up was Fat Heaven who's pop punk energy rivalled that of a young Green Day. Their songs were catchy and downright FUN. Their set was short, as were most of the songs- but their sound was good. One of the best tunes of the day was Crybaby. Check out their  Bandcamp ...

(The Don’s Hit List with The Don & The Grizz Ep. 275): Jonny Ross of SMALL TOWN TITANS

Contributor's Note:  Jonny Ross, drummer of Small Town Titans, joins The Don's Hit List with The Don & The Grizz via FAB Radio International for the 275th episode.  Recently, Small Town Titans released the music video for their song "9 to 5", which is a salute to the working person.  Phil Freeman stated that it's a salute to the ultimate hard worker and how they deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labor from time to time, and how we all deserve to take a load off and have a good time. Small Town Titans are known for their viral covers of "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch", "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen, "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash and "Hunger Strike" which featured Matt James of Blacktop Mojo, by Temple Of The Dog.  Fans can find Small Town Titans on their official website, F...

(Music Musings) Madness To Creation Podcast Ep. 43: “Satellite Over Southtown Livestream Review” by P.O.D.

First of all, I want to apologize to my readers and listeners for not getting this out sooner.  There's been some things going on in my personal life that I'll divulge in another episode/article.  In the 43rd episode of the Madness To Creation Podcast, we dive in to the livestream review of "Satellite Over Southtown" by music legends P.O.D. This was definitely a trip down memory lane with their incredible hits "Alive", "Youth of the Nation", "Satellite" and "Boom." The performance took place in the concourse area of Petco Park in San Diego, California, which is P.O.D.'s hometown.  First, let's talk about the visuals.  From the stage setup to the drone footage, the performance and the drone footage captured the spirit and the beauty of San Diego.  It was so cool seeing the baseball s...

(Madness To Creation Podcast Ep. 39): Nigel Glockler of SAXON

Editor's Note:  Nigel Glockler of legendary British metal band Saxon joins the Madness To Creation Podcast for the 39th episode. In this episode, Nigel talks about the release of "Inspirations", which provides "Saxon-ized" covers of famous classic rock songs such as "Stone Free" by Jimi Hendrix, "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones", "Speed King" by Deep Purple and "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin. Nigel is a drummer that so many metalheads cite as a major influence in their drumming and the cool thing is that you wouldn't hear Nigel talk about it at all. Nigel talks about his legacy, how Cream, Deep Purple and The Rolling Stones influenced him and coping with the Covid-19 pandemic. The light is at the end of the tunnel folks, we are almost there to hopefully make this pandemic subsi...
